Use your farang skills as an efficient 'handyman' type figure?

Drink so much that you don't know what the f**ks going on?

There are many work permit rules that spell out what farangs may or may not do here legally. I just putter around my house and garden with four dogs and wife.

Same here, but with 5 dogs and I work in the middle. I know there's a list the size of an elephants bogroll of things you can and can't do round here (I live in Pak Chong by the way), I even get odd stares when I cut my grass!! Maybe I'm doing it too quickly and not sleeping between each blade.

Take the dogs for walks across the rice fields now that they've finished with the harvest. As much as it's quiet and slow going there always seems to be something to do. Perhaps it takes a certain person to accept the ways here, I personally love it.

I've been living in the North-East, (think Pak Chong just about falls under that category) for the past year. It is very much a simple way of living and people around here definetly don't want their boat rocked - hence the fact that Tesco Lotus is still not open!

A normal Sunday, would involve, like many of you walking the ol k-9's, a trip to the market, fresh fruit and veg, spuds and a cut of meat. Buy the paper, do a bit of gardening, indulge in mod-cons, tv, playstation etc, go round mates for an after beer or cola, come back, stick meat in oven, eat, watch telly, go to bed.

The last visit to Issan was a fact finding mission, so spent a lot of time exploring and mending the family home and fence. I am hoping to do a lot of pottering, around a lot of garden, later on when the house is up and running. As for work, I may have to go back to UK for that. Would love to teach but not clever enough. Still doing lottery and dreaming at the mo.

But I have lived in Isaan before and probably will do again.

When I DID live in Isaan, I read a lot of books, pottered around the village, helped out in any way possible that wasn't too much hard work, eat noodles etc.... I found it enjoyable, but if I ever did it for a long period of time I would need a nice place to live and a car.
