Nicest interior of any bar in Korat. Supposedly has very good food, but I've only eaten there a couple of times. Nice ladies who will chat you up and ask for a drink or, simply leave you alone. Up to you.
That's good to hear. I'll look it up when I get home. Some new faces would be welcome. I swear that each farang bar that I go to has clones of the same guys!

Since I've been going to the Irish Bar (about once a week) the only other customers I've seen there are military guys from Malaysia, Singapore and the US. Usually I'm the only one there. However, Cobra Gold is on now so there's a bunch of Americans around.

The Save One flea market is indeed an interesting Korat institution. It's on the site of a former supermarket. There are hundreds of stalls selling clothing, housewares, used books, antiques, goldfish and pets, orchids and other plants and much, much more. There are also a number of typical food stalls selling Isaan and Thai favorites. We often go there to shop for produce as it's one of the few fresh markets that is open in the evening.

Only two problems; the Danes can't drink and some people are just too much hard work to arrange a rendezvous with.

    Hotel??????

    Hello all,
new to the forum so go easy on me!!
I'm going to be in Korat city for a week or so in May. I stayed at the Korat Hotel when i was there last but this time i'm after somewhere with a pool.
It needs to be reasonably close to Saint Marys hospital and hopefully have a few nice bars/restaurants close by.
I like the look of the sripatana, how is the location? Quiet?
    All advice gratefully recieved.

    Cheers.

All the bits of odds and ends, washers screws, sprinklers, brackets and things can usually be found out in the villages around Korat. Some of these little shops sell everything,if they,or you,can find it.

Robbie died quite a while ago. Ducky still runs Friends but is looking to sell.

Passanee and its owner have long since disappeared, although there are claimed sightings of the latter from time to time. Some people would like to have a word with him.

^ Indeed they would like to have a word, there are many, not just the Scotsman, he was just the last in a long line. The brother of Mike's wife works at the new coffee shop that has opened across the road from the Pizza Shop so the extended family are still around and you're right about the odd ghostly sighting every now and then but he's a slippery character. There are recent rumours that a "Pasinee" shop that looks identical to the one that used to be next to the Pizza Shop is open in BBK, Sukhumvit, right next to Soi Cowboy. Don't know if it's him and haven't been down there yet.

There is a lovely little cutie at the George and Dragon at 361 Suranaree Rd.

Also a good restaurant called "The Green Frog" bit further up the street just before the big hotel.

I'd post a pic but think I need more posts.

I'm in Korat at the moment, going out tonight to try to find the Geo & Dragon,Ram,Walrus & Irish Pub....anyone know if they're still open?
I've been coming up here for nearly 20 years but only on fleeting visits to the in-laws,but now 'er indoors has a house here my visits will probably be a bit more prolonged.
