^ There's nothing womanly about my hands although I must admit they've become a bit soft over the last few years now that my job seems to be confined to the keyboard. Anyway, the good news is that the blister is healing fast and I hope to be back in action by the weekend.

Mike, this is the set of chairs that go with our stand-in coffee table. A lot of sanding work but it needs doing...

Good points Mike, for which I have no definitive answer.

I would expect the majority of that 180 million tonnes of sand to get distributed across the lowlands, not the highlands, such as the Mendip Hills.

And I carefully considered the possibility of another ice age, but considering climate change and all that, and the fact that the last ice age only extended as far south as the midlands leaving Bristol and Somerset ice-free, I don't think it will be a factor.

There is of course a case that places like Birmingham, Stoke and Manchester would look better buried beneath an ice sheet but we can't rely on it. I stand by my calculation that it would take millions of years to reduce the Mendip Hills to flatness using a teaspoon.

They already are at the moment.

What's worse is I'm having a new fangdangled condenser boiler fitted today that will make my energy Bill's reduce by 20 -30%.

The downside is not heating, gas or water for today and house is a freezing bomb site.

Mendy a good way to sand and not get feminine white collar blisters is to use some protective work gloves or if you can't source them oop norf then use your yellow marigolds

This will become known as the Isaan Table Epoch.

The mahogany dining table is finally finished and has been relocated back to it's proper place with no new hernias.

I think it was worth doing.

It rarely gets used for actual dining but at least the daughter and I have our usual Monopoly venue back.

I've started doing the teak coffee table with this 'Tung Oil' stuff, which I've never heard of before.

I can see why this table was coated with a 2" layer of polyurethane... to cover the poor workmanship. But I still think it looks better like this. I'm hoping that a couple of coats of oil will be enough so will finish tomorrow.

    Then what's next...

    Another day, another table...

Three coats of Tung Oil and the teak coffee table can go back inside in a day or two, once the oil smell wears off a bit.

The wife's had no foot rest for her 8-10 hours in front of the telly every day so she'll be happy to see it back.

Thank you Topper. There should be more people like you on this place.

I just hope this Tung Oil won't stain the wife's heels.

    Great table mate.

Be carefull of liquid staining. Use coasters etc.

Especially under coffee cups and cans/bottles of Leo as the condensation forms on the outside and runs down on the table.

I'd have guessed both were about the same shade...isn't that why you picked tung oil?

^ I must admit Topper that I chose 'Tung Oil' based on Shutree's recommendation I think, or was it Malmo Mike, or Barty, or Mikenot? I forget now. The colour of the rear part of the wife's feet never really came into it.

I nearly came up with a wag about 'tongue oil', but I guess it would have bee inappropriate.

Anyway, here is the teak coffee table back in the fold and actively participating in family life again. To my knowledge not a single foot has rested on the table so far and the new coaster rule is being fairly well adhered to.

I do have a question for any wood working types... that huge piece of mahogany furniture the telly now sits on is completely obsolete... we no longer have a CD player, DVD player or cassette tape player and the 8 Track has long gone. I can mount the flat screen on the wall, but what can I re-purpose that mahogany cabinet thing into? It's too good for the chicken run but I have no idea what to do with it?

^ It weighs about three and a half tonnes... a big unit for the TV remote which currently sits on the Lotus' tissue box!

There is a little True box sitting on the shelf top left, but that can easily be included with a wall mount.

Laptop sports streaming happens in bed with headphones... I'm not that up on things. What's a PS5?

Turn it on its side , get rid of the draws and base.

Give it a good sanding and oiling.

Then use it as an album storage and book storage facility.

Or take all the draws and shelves out then use it as a linen chest.

Or you could give it the gardener to flog at the local market.
Use the money to replace the ripped leather on your armchair.
Me personally, I'd just burn the ugly fvcking thing and be done with it.
