No worries ootai, not going to change so you should be able to enjoy some laughs for quite some time.

As for who is strange discussion, I don't think either of us or others are strange. I enjoy keeping a tidy place as does my wife. I have always been pretty organized. Keep things up, they last. Let them go and you have tons of work and cost later or you can ignore it all and just let the place fall apart and run down.

I probably should have shown a before pic so you could have seen the bird shit, gecko shit, spiderwebs and various dark mold spots on the stairs.

I do this area and carpark once a year.

Happy Friday and just a day in life.....

It will be a full on mad house like last year. I actually enjoy it. It's really no different then a good park party in the states. Food, music, drunks and fireworks.

Well the weather is just outstanding up here.

Geared up and headed to Sop Prap today. I need to get out the Go Pro and do some vids.

Few pics of the trek along the ride.

Really quite relaxing and peaceful up here in the mountains. I will say one thing you have to watch for up in these parts are elephants. I passed a few areas where there was elephant shit all over the road and big clear outs in the trees on both sides as they cut through it.

After a nice ride, nothing like a good sammy and some chips.

Nice pics Stumps. You should have taken your wheelbarrow... that elephant shite is great for the garden.

And my daughter gets reprimanded for calling crisps 'chips', by the way.

It's bean a busy morning in Korat as well!

All 10 seedlings I planted last week are doing well and you can see that this one on the foreground is already starting to bend towards the trellis. They'll be climbing in no time.

No new beans seemed to germinate this week so I took out the last four 'runts' from the seed trays and planted them. I also rummaged around and found a bean that had a small shoot, so that's 15 transplanted out of 48 seeds, pretty rubbish really. I bought them on offer in a Somerset nursery back in the summer and I think they saw me coming. I'll check the date on the packet some time, if I remember.

    Anyway, fingers crossed.

The beans I planted a couple of weeks ago were still in the potting compost in the seed trays, but just hadn't germinated. They hadn't been eaten or anything but appeared to have gone rotten and I broke one in half and it was all moldy inside.

I've decided to fill out the remainder of the bed with Thai beans to make up for the shortfall. They are much more slender than the more robust Western runner bean but a lot longer, which seems strange.

After soaking, I left the first batch of seeds in a bowl on the work bench last night and a bladdy mouse ate them, so I soaked a new packet of seeds for a few hours this morning before planting. Here is a comparison between the Western and Thai bean seed. There is a huge difference in size however I think the Western beans have become a bit bloated after sitting in the seed tray for a couple of weeks.

I planted 73 Thai long bean seeds and it'll be interesting to see how many germinate. And yes, I'm a bit bored today.

    There... job done!

Meanwhile the gardener decided to cut what we call 'the lawn'. For some reason he's taken to wearing my daughter's snorkeling goggles as part of his PPE. I have proper safety glasses from work in the workshop but have long learned not to question such things.

Cheers Mendy. Your garden coming along very well. Look forward to some of your meals with green and long beans. Also nice to see your gardener working and more over, wearing safety attire.

The strongest runner bean seedling has started to spiral around one of the trellis poles already.

When one side of a seedling stem comes into contact with something, the cells on the opposing side of the stem grow longer, thus causing the stem to spiral around the support.

When viewed from below, runner beans spiral around a pole in the clockwise direction, as demonstrated by this English Scarlet Emperor seedling. This is apparently unusual as most beans spiral in the anti-clockwise direction. It will be interesting to see which way the Thai long beans spiral.

    ^ I sense sarcasm...

So Cyrille, which was do you think the Thai long bean plants will spiral then?

Did a pool vacuum and deck wash to get all the bird crap off it. The doves love to come to the lotus pots to drink and bathe, but they tend to crap all over.

Fired up the jacuzzi. Its a comfortable 32c today

A nice way to read TD. BTW Mendy, I think the Thai long bean will grow left......

Thanks LT. It's my sanctuary of sorts especially now that I work remotely almost 100%. Doesn't look like I will ever be required to return to a factory full time.
