Eh, you told that it was outside a condo which had been mentioned earlier so I just walked that road up and down 5 times until I saw the statue.

    ^^ Yeah... too easy!

Bung Ta Lua Water Park. Lots of nice scenery here... especially early evening walking around the lake dressed in tight leggings!

But true to my word... two dogs so two greens owed!

I really have to start spreading these around more or I'll get months behind.

    Well done... another coming up...

^^ Yeah, I guess my clues are too good!

But without them you'd have spent a long time checking all of Korat on Google street view!

    Yes, big water.
Look at the map, chose one of them and I didn't even need street view. The first of googles stored photos from there had the same view as your photo with that white building in the background.

There's no such thing as a free lunch... and in order to get their day out, Dan and Coco first had to pay a visit here.

It's all smiles after the visit... Location No. 50... Where are Dan and Coco?

(and can anyone using underhand methods like reading Thai script please answer by PM to keep it going a bit!)

Yes... Nev and Lom, a green a piece... owed.

Lom, I think you're right... time to retire this thread for the time being. Thanks for your participation!

It was the Bung Ta Lua Animal Hospital, the only vets I trust in Korat for my dogs. They're a 10 minute drive from Bung Ta Lua Water Park.

This was the only place in Korat to diagnose Dan's thyroid problem 12 years ago, and saved her life. HH... I know you've had your problems with Korat vets. I've never felt gouged for money here and they seem to put the animal's welfare first. They're not far from you... I would recommend them whole-heartedly.

Yesterday it was a check-up for Dan, which she passed, and a rabies jab for Coco.

And in case anyone is interested...

The top-right corner of this schematic is the famous Korat 5-way Junction.

thanks for that mendip one to keep in mind, right now we are back with our first vet [2011] but owing to my lack of intelligence regarding our first vet,why i blew him out was,at 4am.sam had a massive nose bleed and it scared me,but the vet refused to come out, saying he was not in the city.me not knowing most vets only open 8am-8pm.
up untill then we had good service from him always came to the house, never overcharged, and after 2yrs.of incompetance,no thought of the dogs welfare only their main concern was how much [THEY KNEW] what they could rip off a farang who clearly loved his dog and money was no object.we realized we did get good service from him.
i have noticed there has been a few new animal hospitals opened up this past couple of yrs.what equipment they have you just got to check them out first.molly was born at one of them with her mother living opposite us now.
    thanks once again HH.

Coco was a bit nervous about visiting this place. Location No. 51... Where is Coco?

^ Very close, although you should consider that Coco doesn't have a religious bone in her body...

^ And we have a new winner! Green sent... not owed for a change!

    Yes, St Mary's Hospital, Korat

Here is the Mary's cross, with the hospital cross above it... and some Thai script that I assume says St Mary's Hospital!

And why was Coco nervous... well...

I feel a bit guilty here, in another thread I thanked a member for recommending me an Aussie accountant with great results. Subsequently he asked me to recommend a dentist in Korat, and since I've always used the dentist in St Mary's, this was the one I suggested.

Since then an email inferred that his dental trip wasn't great... and it's made me question a few things...

I've used the dentist at St Mary's several times with no incident, and the price is OK. But how do you know if it's a good dentist or not? I have a petite female dentist with a petite female dental nurse, both of whom I imagine are stunningly attractive but of course you can't tell as they're always masked up. I've a horrible feeling that I'm so shallow I recommended these dentists based purely on having some attention from a couple of 'beautiful' girls! Nothing to do with their dental prowess.

The last time I went I had a tooth pulled out. Here you see the offending tooth, completely broken off, along with my sinus tube lying along the roots of the upper jaw teeth.

Sure enough, upon extraction I suffered a perforated sinus tube and couldn't 'suck' for a couple of weeks. Try and suck, and air whistled in from my nose through the tooth. It was a really strange sensation and you realise how important it is to have a seal between your mouth and nose. Blow out with my mouth shut, and the air just whistled through the tooth hole and out through my nose. It was impossible to drink using a straw cos there was no suction and when I tried to have a beer, swallowing was so difficult the beer that didn't come out of my nose ran out of my mouth and onto the bar. Not a great look.

I don't know of this is normal if you have a tooth pulled... but if not... sorry to the member who I recommended these dentists to. But I hope you enjoyed having attention from couple of girls as much as I have!

As I have a bit of spare time this morning I will try and tell the "story" about the dentist.

For those on here, I asked Mendip if he could recommend a Dentist in Korat who could speak reasonably good English. I have been to other dentists here and hate having to trust the missus to translate 100% what I am trying to ask the dentist.

Anyway I had a half of a tooth that had previously been filled but the filling broke off/out when I chewed on something hard so I needed to have it removed and then hopefully later have some false teeth made to fill the now large gap (an adjacent tooth had been removed years ago).

So of I go and she gives me an injection to numb the area prior to extraction, it doesn't work so try again and again and again and again. Yes that's 5 times and my mouth didn't go numb. So she says we'll try and get the tooth out anyway. So as it was broken below my gum she had to try and drill it into pieces and pull out / snap off little bits at a time.
So after suffering the worst pain experience of my life in the end I told her "No F***ing more". I don't believe that I am a sook but!

Anyway she says make an appointment for next week but the receptionist stuffs that up and makes it for the next day, my fault as I didn't check until later that night when it was too late to change it.

Next day I ask her, "what are we going to do differently today?" She offers to get the dentist next door to give me the injection instead of her which I accept and lo and behold numb within 5 minutes and it was still numb 5 hours later. She successfully removed the remaining bit of tooth.

When i went back the next week to get the stitch out I asked her if she had had this issue before and to my surprise she said yes many times.
So I think she might have an issue getting the injection in the right place. I told her that If I needed an injection in the future she could get the guy from next door to do it and she agreed.

Life is a learning experience but sometimes you wish you didn't need to learn some things!

^ Aah good.... I thought something bad had happened!

If it makes you feel any better ootai, before she pulled out my tooth the injection worked first time. It took an age for her to get all the root out mind, but as I've mentioned I have no problem with a petite female dentist giving me so much attention.

Your story reminds me of a hernia op I had in the Bangkok Hospital, Korat a couple of years ago...

As an aside... before the op a pretty young nurse had to shave me 'downstairs', which goes down as one of the high points of my 14 years in Korat.

Anyway, I was wheeled into the operating room to find a gaggle of female anaesthetists waiting for me, ready to give me an epidural. The plan was for me to be conscious during the hernia op. They kept giving me injections in my lower back and asking me if I was numb... but no. This went on and on, they had me on my side, rolled into a ball, etc etc but I guess they just couldn't find the right spot around the spinal nerves. The girls were clambering over me, manipulating me and chatting away the whole time. They were saying, "you're too big... too big"... but I don't think they meant what my dirty mind imagined... it was just too much body muscle maybe? But eventually the doc had enough of waiting and told them to give me a general and knock me out... and that was it. The spoil sport.

^What the fuck were you doing awake during a hernia op? I've had about 5 hernia ops in my groin and belly button starting in my teens, including 2 in Thai hospitals, and being awake has never been an option (thank fuck). Remind me never to ask you for advice on Surgeons, or Dentists!

^ This was an inguinal hernia... so down in the groin.

I must admit I was surprised to find out the plan was for an epidural and for me to be conscious. It's probably just as well the girls couldn't find my spinal nerves!

Very familiar with these, have had repairs done both sides of the old 'fella twice but never while being awake!

Pro tip: When you been fucking so much you're cumming air but are determined to get one last shot away no matter how much physical exertion it takes, think twice. There'll be other opportunities, and you risk giving yourself an inguinal hernia or ruining a previous repair job

I can't help but feel Coco's thread is deviating a bit.

So, to get it back on track...

The other day Coco joined the daughter and I when we visited one of our favourite attractions near Korat.

This place can be pretty scary. Location No. 52... Where is Coco?
