    I moved to Thailand with my darling wife in 2006. We'd been living in Perth WA, but she fancied living close to her aging mum for her twilight years... I thought why not, I'd lived in Asia for many years beforehand and had always liked it.

    OK, so Korat wasn't what I'd envisaged, but I got on with it. I was getting 65 Baht to the pound, had unlimited tax free offshore work in Brazil and West Africa, and a bottle of Leo was only around 40 Baht. It was all good.

    Then in 2009 came the financial crash. My pound was now getting low 50s Baht, but work was unaffected so I though no problem, it just slowed the savings and added a year or so to my working life.

    Then in 2015 came the oil slump, without doubt the worst and most severe I've been through in 30 years in the industry. I was lucky and worked through 2015 no problem with an unaffected day rate, but 2016 was bad. I kept working, but with a 40% day rate reduction and high Scandinavian tax. But it kept me current and avoided cutting into savings.

    Then came Brexit and my Sterling was getting mid to low 40s Baht. But... I'd built up contacts again in Norway and had loads of work, sorted out the tax issue (legally) and as recently as last November was looking forward to a very busy (and prosperous) 2020. Things were on the up.

    Then came Covid and my work has stopped in it's tracks. Yet another oil crash and no way of getting to what little work has been around anyway. And 38 Baht to the pound to boot.

    Although I am optimistic for enough work the second half of this year to avoid a complete disaster, Covid has forced more changes of plans and added yet more years to my working life. I'm getting pissed off with it all.

    To cut a long story short, Coco has noticed me looking a bit stressed out, and as way of a thank you for being given a nice home she's offered to help out (which to be honest is more than anyone else has done).

    At which local government office did Coco try and get a job? Location No. 43... Where is Coco?

    Do they have jobcentre or DWP offices in Thailand?

    Everyone's in the same boat Mendip, it's crap all round.
    Just gotta get on with it and have a laugh.
    On a positive note it's great getting so much quality family time and Coco looks very happy.

    ^^ I don't know about Job Centres... not allowed to work here anyway!

    DWP? Dog Welfare Payments?

    But to be sure... it's been great to spend so much time with the littlun. No guilt attached either... cos there's absolutely no alternative.

    Another green owed!

    How on earth did you get that one?

    This week I'll have to continue my search for ever more obscure Korat landmarks!

    Another green on offer... I'll keep it open!

    ^^ Aahhh...

    So obvious I didn't think of it... I kind of assumed everyone else was as useless at reading Thai as me.

    Let me check the rules...

    Coco will be on the soi starving and unable to walk unless you get your future finances sorted.

    Sorry to be blunt.

    Actually NSA Nev's software is like Google Earth street view, he simply rotated the picture until the wording has visible.

    Department for Work and Pensions or a Thai version if one exists.

    Do they have a welfare state in Thailand?

    Several ways to do it ...

    1/ First, open "Reply With Quote (bottom right of the post you want to quote) in a new tab or page the quote you want to embed.

    Where's Coco?-screenshot_2020-06-29-wheres-coco-reply

    Do nothing, just leave it there

    2/

    Make the post you want to make. Hit enter.

    It's in this new post of yours that you embed the other post/s

    But you need to make your post first.

    Where's Coco?-screenshot_2020-06-29-wheres-coco-page

    3/ Click Edit Post on your post ... it opens up (unless you are in the DogHouse)

    4/ Go back to the post you want to embed (the other Members post), highlight ALL of it

    Where's Coco?-screenshot_2020-06-29-wheres-coco-reply

    5/ and paste as per the photo below ...

    Where's Coco?-screenshot_2020-06-29-wheres-coco-page

    6/ Should look like the image below now ...

    Where's Coco?-screenshot_2020-06-29-wheres-coco-page

    7/ You can remove any of the text of the post you want to embed, like I have with your original post below ...

    {QUOTE=ootai;4127037} I would also like to be able to post same as Mendip {/QUOTE}

    {QUOTE=ootai;4127037} I would also like to {/QUOTE}

    {QUOTE=ootai;4127037} I would {/QUOTE}

    Above, I had to replace the " [ " with " { " so you could see what is done.

    Hope that helps

    Well done Nev! Of course Coco tried to get a job at the Nakhon Ratchasima Rural Road Office.

    There's nothing in the rules against using your sneaky trick of reading Thai text, so another green owed!

    Coco didn't get the job... she's forever digging holes and never fills 'em in... I though she'd be perfect.

    Coco had a walk around town today and tried to go through these red doors, but they were locked.

    Not a good state of affairs... Location No. 44... Where is Coco?

    Snakeeyes should know this one!

    Nev, too easy for you, ya don't even need your tricks for this one. Send a PM for the green!
