Not only are apartments, condos, gated villages and shopping malls currently going up all over the place in Korat, there's also a road building (and fast rail link?) programme underway.

Coco wanted to check the progress of one new road, so we checked out a section that's less than a year old... it's so new that there's not even any pot holes yet.

There's a new junction behind Coco... and beyond the junction the ground works for the continuation of this new road have just started.

Which roads intersect at this new junction? Location 23... Where is Coco?

And you won't get a better clue than this!

It's obviously road 290, the new ring road. I'll guess it's the junction with highway 224.

A correct answer Nev... but a guess? We've had this issue before with guesses hitting on a correct answer. Another green owed for now while I check the rules.

Here's a close-up of the junction taken from the new 209 (ring road) with the 224 running perpendicular. You can see the ground works for the next section of the new ring road have just started beyond (east of) the 224.

And to get things into perspective... I can now get to the zoo from our house in about 20 minutes!

But what I'm really looking forward to is the fast rail link to Bangkok... apparently a station for the new link will be just up the road from us and 1 hr 40 mins to Bangkok. I could have a barney with the wife in the morning and be on Sukhumvit for a pint by lunchtime!

Unlucky with the 304... as you can see above the 304/290 junction is south of the zoo. I've driven through that junction a few times but can't remember how it looks off hand, but it won't have new ground works going on. The 290 is finished in that area.

As for Coco sitting on the 79 km marker stone on road 290... although it's not in the spirit of the question I can't really fault that answer. I'll grudgingly owe you a green! Well done...

Does the 79km marker mean that the ring road is at least 79km long? (If so, where does the numbering start? km0, km1 etc)

Or is that 79km to or from somewhere in particular?

^ I have no idea. Usually the markers would be distance from/to a city. I wonder how it works for a ring road?

Korat must be one of the most cosmopolitan cities across lower Isaan, and along with it's recent phenomenal growth in housing and development of infrastructure, there has been an explosion of restaurants and cafes.

We can now get food from all over the globe, and have a choice of no fewer than 7 (seven!) Pizza Companies.

Coco loves a bit of fast food so we visited one of the Pizza Company outlets. Location No. 24... Where is Coco?

    Seven Pizza Company outlets.
Certainly qualifies for sophistication and cosmopolitan traits.

    For some...

    ^ The voice of experience!

After your Ginza massage you could indeed pop round the corner to The Pizza Company on Rajadamnern Road and have a Meat Deluxe Pizza, or a Jumbo Puff, depending on your preference!

Me? I'd just have a pint... I would imagine.

Congrats Lom, and another green owed!

Coco wants to go on holiday so we went here... but it was closed.

That put paid to our plans... I've never seen her so upset.

Where did Coco have to go before her holiday? Location No. 25... Where is Coco?

    Fuck fuck fuck.

I went passport office then edited, thinking the mongrel has wandered over from Cambodia, like the wife"s dad and was off to Buriram for a decent weekender.

    ^^^^ She's Thai... doesn't need a visa.

    Well done Nev!

Coco was hoping to visit Malaysia to see how the other half live, so she needed a passport. Sadly with the passport office shut she'll have to holiday in Thailand now. Maybe I'll show her Sukhumvit!

    Green owed Nev!

^ There's a man who know how to safe isolate... probably.

Anyway, Coco's always been interested in a nice clock, so we went to see this famous Korat landmark.

Location No. 26... Where is Coco?

And a bonus green if anyone can work out those funny numbers and say what time the photo was taken?

I don't know the name of the street but you are in the same area as before.
From Pizza Company take a 60m jump over the klong and there is the clock tower. 10.35 is the time.
