With my interest in fish we visited the Nong Khai Aquarium this morning.
There were a few traditional ideas for me to catch my snakehead.
On the walls they had these fantastic 'Freshwater Fishes of Thailand' posters issued by the Department of Fisheries.
Here's the info at the bottom.
The shop at the aquarium didn't stock the posters and there was no-one manning the shop anyway to ask. I'd love to get hold of these posters... done online searches with no success. Maybe it requires a search in Thai?
Does anyone please have any ideas how I could locate these posters to buy?
Im sure ive saw those posters on here in one of DD's stickied threads
These may have an answer:
Thailand Fishing
Perhaps i was over generalising, did you have to ruin it Helge.
It actually says at the bottom of one of the posters that they are not to be sold.
Yes. Uncle Nev has kindly done that for you. Free to download.
They can be found here: ศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนาประมงน้ำจืดลำปาง
They are a decent sized file too (4.5MB + 4.66MB) so will probably still look good if you print them or get them printed into large posters.
Nev, that is just fantastic... thanks very much and I'll see what I can do about sending a 'Green'.
I'll check the resolution... certainly OK for A3 format but I'll send them to a draughtsman mate who's offshore just now and he can play at plotting them out at A2 or even A1 if resolution permits.
My plan is to cross reference with the Latin names to find the English name.
There's three lines of text beneath each fish... the Thai name, the Latin name (with discoverer) and then more Thai text with a number. Any idea what the third line is about?
Yesterday i was at an asian grocery mall hunting down tge bits n pieces her indoors needs to cook her Lao food. I saw a big fish tank and pointed it out to my young boy. Tank was full of baby stingrays no bigger than a pack of cigarettes . A sticker on the tank said call this number $300 each. Wow i said to myself
