You might catch that single mango with that net

    Outstanding craftsmanship from your gardener.

Did your net come from China? That looks like Minsk World in Shenzhen.

Surely they make these things locally?

It surely needs some dry training and exercise to throw the right cast

Shutree, I always have the 'Local' filter on when I shop at Lazada and the net arrived in a few days but it may well have originated in China. I just went with the picture... does she look Chinese or Thai? Either way she looks pretty nice to me.

Baldrick, I'm not sure whet the 2cm refers to... but if it is 'snatch' length there would be quite a bit of room to spare for the fish to slip through. If you know what I mean.

Klondyke... I was all set to start practicing yesterday but we had a big rain storm come through Korat and it got a bit nippy by the pool... it was down to 24 degrees. I'll try again today... how difficult can it be?

I notice the guy in your picture doesn't have any weights around the net... can't see that working very well?

That method seems to have lasted for a few centuries, so presumably it works OK.

Not sure about that but I think it's something like heavy beads in the outline of the net.

Anyway, seeing in my fotobase there were some good results...

To be honest Klondyke I reckon your guy'd had a lot of practice.

I need a bit of a rethink about all this...

^Nice work in the little boat Mendip. That reminds me I should wet my little inflatable paddler2000 on the lake before winter sets in as she has not been out for ages.

It was her royal dog t-shirt that caught your subconscious eye

More than enough room for Baldrick's 1.8cm micropenis in that Chinese lady's 2cm long snatch

    Looks very cool.

Has it changed your relationship with the locals at all?

Casting a net at Easter is biblical!

Kudos Mendip, didn't take you for the God bothering type, although I did suspect when I saw your Jesus boots

I watched the first video of you failing to stand in the boat, did you actually cast the net in any of the subsequent videos?

The last few posts explain just exactly why Mendip has been poster of the year for two years running. Keeping up the comedy gold.

My brother and I used cast nets to catch bait as kids. There is a certain way to hold it that once you get it you will have good luck opening the net when you throw it.

There was no internet back then but maybe try a few US you tube vids from Florida.

    Good luck.

Mendy, Good stuff and if I was at your place on the side watching with a beer, I'd be cheering for ya (Laughing all the while).

I have tried that net fishing here a few times. I think I have a few pics, I will see if I can dig them up. It was an utter failure. It takes a lot of practice to get that net out on a flat to land uniformly on the water. The one this guy was teaching me on had a small metal chain around the entire circumference. He said if the water is a meter or more deep you need weight to get the net down fast. If not the fish can swim off. It was fun for the experience but had it been for my survival I would have starved to death. I tried about a dozen times. I caught Zip. I happily handed the net back and sat on the bank and watched him catch fish.

Sorry but that's never gonna happen, or at least not when there's cameras around.

With hindsight I think I was a bit ambitious trying to learn this net casting from a boat, but from the bank I can't see a problem. I'll keep practicing.

As unexpected and amusing as when the clown in the circus stumbles and falls into the manege's sawdust.
We should had been warned beforehand.

We've had a lot of rain the last couple of days...

The pond water level has gone up.

The best laid plans and all that... I'll just wait and see the next plan to save this one mango.
