This is a nice crimson dragons-blood hue you could try Mendip...
Miss Harare from Zimbabwe came over to measure my inflation rate this evening after kicking the tyres at a picnic 3 1/2 weeks ago.
That toe looks looks nasty.
I lost my thumbnail in a freak car door accident in 2015 involving KGBGF's 8 year old daughter. I was emotionally scarred watching it slowly detach and fall off over the course of a week after the incident, and by the prospect of it possibly not growing back, so I was mightily relieved when it did. Although a toe-nail is maybe not such a high stakes deal.
What did the doctor say about your prospects for sprouting a new one?
Omg. What has been seen cannot be unseen. The Horrer
Well, I took a look at this thread after my first night's rest after the operation and would like to thank everyone for their messages of sympathy.
Correction... I would like to thank Shutree for his message of sympathy.
Thanks Shutree! You find out who your friends are in times of crisis.
You should see it without the bandage!
The doc reckons it should grow back in a couple of months. I reckon it will be six months before it's at full length again. I get some indication of the rate of my toe nail growth from the clean area that has grown since I built the jetty two months ago.
And incidentally, in response to all the hurtful comments about my hygiene... I am as hygienic as they come... regularly shower, always a cold shower before getting in bed, plus regular swims, etc etc etc. My toe nails became deep-stained by Chaindrite a couple of months ago, but at least I don't have to worry about termites. The rest of my feet aren't too bad. The pic above was taken in the garden after I'd been walking around in bare feet, so of course there was a dusting of dirt.
I did take note of the comments however and chipped off a particularly stubborn spatter of grey primer today from my right big toe nail. A shower today will however be difficult as I'm under strict instructions not to get my toe wet!
Anyway... this morning I checked the pond and the green scum had disappeared and the water pressure has increased slightly since a complaint went to the landowner. I reckon it should be full in a week. There's rain forecast today as well!

Oh there is nothing but love for ya Mendy. If we didn't care, we wouldn't poke fun at ya.
I'm surprised that those cuts on your hands did not become infected from all the fish poop sludge. When I had a koi pond, I would wash my hands with alcohol with lanolin to prevent cuts getting infected. The lanolin prevented your skin from drying out from the alcohol.
^ Thanks for the tip Cal... I wish I'd known that a week ago!
Several of the cuts on my hands did become infected but I didn't bother mentioning it... I don't want to sound like I'm searching for sympathy.
^ Sorry mate... but this is the harsh reality of having a pond in Isaan!
A mate had the same and had to get half his foot amputated.
Luckily I still had my foot and leg intact this evening so went for a look at the pond.
Sometimes all I can say is FFS...
The pond water has gone a new shade of vivid green... it's now almost luminescent and I have no idea what is going on. Percy would have been proud.
The forecast rain came to nothing... for months we have had guaranteed rain showers late afternoon, every day... I saw a weather window and completed the operation... but no rain seems to be returning. But fingers crossed.
While down by the pond I popped out back to feed Anna and Vigo and bumped into our neighbour Toey... the captor of the first pla chon that I had for lunch today. He has a a very nasty cut on the thigh of his left leg that is vivid red and inflamed, obviously due to infection. The pond operation has claimed another victim, and feeling slightly guilty I got him a half bottle of Hong Thong for anaesthetic, although I don't think he was gonna dab it on his wound.
The total injury tally is Toey, the gardener who has badly fukked his back and is now on strong pain killers (on top of the Ya Dong) and myself with a semi-knackered back that is thankfully now improving, a bashed up right little tow and a left big toe minus a nail that was gouged out by the doctor. Oh... and of course don't forget Ootai who slipped towards the end of the day and got his feet wet.
As a strange anecdote to my back injury, last Friday night I was in so much pain that I went dizzy and passed out when trying to get up off the sofa at the the end of the evening. To be honest it wasn't only the pain, I'm not good with medical things and I thought I'd maybe slipped a disc and started thinking... anyway I blacked out and pissed myself in front of the daughter on the sofa.
After I came too I just wanted to get upstairs and forgot about any cleaning up... and the daughter helped me up to the bedroom and I thought no more about it.
Yesterday I thrashed the daughter at Monopoly and as revenge she went and grassed me up to the wife... and my urine patch was right on the wife's daytime telly watching spot and had been bothering her all week. The wife went mental and said that she'd been smelling the piss but assumed that I'd let the dogs in one evening and one had had a mishap on the sofa. This explained our frosty relationship the last few days.
Life can get complicated at times. Now it seems that the wife is happier for me to piss myself on the sofa than let the dogs in the house.
And before the comments... I do have good hygiene... I was unconscious so this doesn't count.
I haven't had a Ya Dong now for several weeks. This was purely medical... just pointing out the potential pitfalls of having a pond.
^ Just get a dog!!!
