I was gonna ask same thing Ootai. I will lean with a few too many Ya Dongs. His 3 stories come across a bit bitter and lashing out. In my opinion, what's happens to each of us solely resides on the decisions we made. Can't blame others.

We are here for ya Mendy.

Have a bloody Mary with a nice bfast with eggs, bacon and some toast. You will feel better in no time.

I looked at a lot of expensive built-in kitchen furniture then went for a long stone counter and plastic cabinets. The built-in stuff all looks great on the surface, behind that veneer it is particle board, or as we call it here, termite food. And did I mention expensive.
That said, I do miss the convenience of some built-in storage solutions.

I agree Shutree. The idea of western kitchens here never seem to work out. Looks good on paper and clearly what many of us grew up with, but cooking styles are dramatically different between many western countries and Thailand. They give it their best shot but typically fall way short. It's also best to have that outdoor kitchen or one completely detached and let the deep frying, wok banging, open flame oil crackling and fish sauce smell away from the main house.

Thanks for asking mate... I must admit I wasn't in good humour last night.

It was a busy day following a crappy sleep... and I guess the lack of microwave just sent me over the edge. How to heat up the veg when the sausages are done?

Not to mention that I suspect the gardener had spiked my Ja Dong.

Anyway... it was again raining tonight and with the expectation of indignation from the usual suspects I snapped a shot of the dogs waiting for things to dry up.

    On the 'DOG' sofa...

I think it's nice that Anna and Coco left a gap for Stumpy to jump up on!

Im pretty sure Macro stock them for about 500 baht. But you can steam vegetables or pop them in the oven for a few minutes or even use the pan and make some bubble and squeak.

And you're very correct... but not a great prospect at 7pm with busy traffic out there when all you want to do is to heat up some peas to coordinate with the rest of the meal.

Anyway, a starter for 10... was the missus in or out last night?

I wasn't even cooking but the gang just loves to come in for the company. Incidentally, the observant will notice that we've got the microwave back... and it actually works. Cheap too, the gardener has a mate who is good at this stuff, apparently. In fact it was so successful that now the oven has gone for fixing.

The wife was concerned about the exposed wiring and I'm certainly no electrician, but I advised that so long as she wears no shoes and keeps her feet wet then she can fiddle with the wires, no problem.

The Queen is dead, long live the King.

Poor old Dan passed away over six weeks ago and it's taken until now for Max, the new pack leader, to take over her sleeping position - the best spot in the gardener's kitchen.

Max certainly has a hard act to follow. Dan ruled the pack with complete respect for many years but unfortunately her successor, Max, is as daft as a brush. He has a short, stubby, crooked tail which has always made me suspect some inbreeding and I just don't think that he's the full Shilling. I cannot see him being pack leader for long.

Yogi and Tommy are snapping at his heels for the top spot... it will be interesting to see how things turn out.

It is clear to me that Maya still has Anna in her sights or at least is keeping an eye on her.

How is their relationship after the attack?

Max does not look like pack leader material on first impression. I thought the luxuriantly coated Maya was in pole position.

I thought the photo-bombing foot was looking distinctly hairy and hobbitesque at first glance, but then I realised it is just a thong-shadow optical illusion

Yogi looks a bit like Scooby Doo in this one...

Maya is completely subservient to the three boys (even Max who isn't complete) and will never be pack leader, although she is probably the physically strongest of the pack. She is the boss of the three girls, and yes LT... she had another go at Anna yesterday... not bad but just to re-affirm her position as top girl, I reckon.

I think that Max is boss of the two other boys just because he was already an adult when they arrived as puppies. Yogi is probably the strongest boy but is very subservient to Max. It's fascinating watching all the pack dynamics going on.

And that was the gardener's foot. I didn't notice it at the time. Maybe he has secretly been reading TD and wanted to get in on the act?

So Max is the one that is debollixed.

That would seem to make his social ascendancy even more of a curious conundrum.

One would have thought that having one's testosterone taps shut off would relegate a fella to a life of hum-drum lo-so mediocrity.

^ Yeah, it is strange Looper but I guess Max is the oldest and was established before the others turned up.

To be honest I've been pretty well 'debollixed' these past few years but I'm still the boss of the family...

... actually, forget that. I don't know how Max holds it together.

Anyway, speaking of Max I have to take him to the vet tomorrow which won't be easy... he's difficult and will need muzzling for this. As always on my 'street dog' thread I'm conflicted between showing the nitty gritty which may help others with dogs, or keeping it 'nice' for the sensitive. Max has a strange growth on his left elbow (knee - but it's his front left leg?) which needs attending to.

I continue to be worried about Anna. She is safe and comfortable but just doesn't seem happy and rarely mixes with the pack. I think she may have dog depression. But what to do? I think she has to work this out for herself because there's no way she can go back to the street... I couldn't do that and I'm sure that she wouldn't want to leave.

Look at her big, baby eyes.

Last night it was left over spare ribs, potato salad and sweetcorn, with a mini quiche to boot.

The dogs just love these nights as they know there will be a bone at the end of the evening. Anna was there as well... maybe I'm worrying needlessly about her.

The Kommandant still hasn't grasped those exposed oven wires yet despite lots of encouragement. Tomorrow I plan to bait them up with little mud crabs and water bugs.

she's not making moves to leave so i don't thinks its unhappiness with her lot, perhaps she just likes her own company and doesn't want to get caught up in the pack pecking order politics. She may also be pretty fukin annoyed that you stopped her swimming lessons.

^ I can relate to a lot of that.

And I will re-start the swimming lessons tomorrow.

    Thanks Mike!

    I forgot to mention something...

Last Friday night the wife was away for some big Buddha cooking thing at the temple the following day and the daughter had a sleepover thing at her school.

This was the first night I'd had to myself for as long as I can remember... so I really pushed the boat out and got meself 4 bottles of Leo and a whole bottle of Hong Thong to really have a good night.

I reckon I was asleep by 8pm and awoke around 2am with 4 dogs on my bed and the other 2 on the bedroom floor. They were so happy.

My point being that Anna was one of the dogs on the bed... she had followed the others through the back door, up the stairs and into the bedroom... a strictly verboten area for the dogs. So maybe she is happy but just does stuff on her own terms.

It also made me realise how enjoyable an evening can be without the Kommandant goose-stepping about the place. Little Coco stayed on the bed until mid-morning. It was the most affection I'd had for years.
