Man the memories of my daughters becoming teenagers and then the school dances where you know those Horndog boys were trying cop a feel.

My saving grace was the boys would sometimes visit the house and they saw I had a lot of guns and shooting range targets pinned up in the garage where I hit center mass from 350 yds out.

Good luck Mendy. Wait until the reach the feminine product age.

Oh boy Mendy for me in the space of one year I went from a combination of Batman, Superman and Spiderman to simply, Daaaad!! It passed.

No superpowers anymore and living too far away from each other but we are still best friends, and they know they can confide in me.

I have actually convinced my son that I am Batman, but he shouldn't tell anyone. This justified why I'm not always there when he goes to bed cos I'm out fighting bad guys (taking care of the bar) but I'm always there when he woke up cos the good guys always win.

Even when I've forgotten all about it he will occasionally ask me - Are you sure The Joker's still in prison? This was a big one, my Mrs was pissed at me one day and left me with a few scratches on my face. We've all been there. Anyway, I told him I'd had a showdown with the Joker and threw his ass in the Bangkok Hilton.

^ Ain't it just. I discovered this Christmas that me daughter seems to doubt the existence of Father Christmas... I do my best but I think at times she is just humouring me so I don't get upset.

And thanks guys for your support for the upcoming teenage years... I can see a lot of passport renewals coming up. I eves-dropped on the daughter's online science lesson today after I heard the buzzword 'fertilisation'... I can't think of a worse word. Thankfully I discovered they were talking about flowers and insects... but it's just around the corner and I can foresee some awkward questions coming up. FFS... she's only 10! This kind of thing didn't happen in Somerset until my late teens! And even then very rarely.

Anyway, how did this thread become about my impending 'nightmare years', which I guess could make a thread. This is Anna's thread, and after she had a bad day yesterday I took her for a walk with every one of our resident pack... yes, meself and Anna went on 6 dog walks today. Anna was a bit bemused by it all, as were the neighbours but it has done the trick. They are all a lot more settled today, and Coco is desperate to make friends.

    It's happening!

My father in law had that. I just took advantage of her on Khao San Road instead.

^^ i like the dog equivalent of signing going on with the ears. Is it me or do Thai dogs ears seem to stick up more the "normal" dogs, something to do with losing heat?

Wow, 10 years old and already 154 cm! That's near my height already! I'm sure that she's taller than most of the girls (and boys) in her class. I don't know if she'll have confidence/ body image issues later on. (I sure hope not! )

I remember that I had a schoolmate who was half Fil/ US and she always towered over us. She was chubby as a kid. Then when we were around 14 or 15, I guess she became conscious of her body and went on a strict (and rather extreme diet). I think her final height was 5'9" or 5'10" (175 to 178 cm). Their family transferred back to the US when we were ~18. When we got together again (during my USA visit & I had a mini-reunion with US-based schoolmates), she said that in the US, she blends in (with her height & looks - she looked more Western than Asian), while in PH she always stood out. She's now married to another US-based Filipino (one who grew up there). The guy is also tall (for a Filipino), at ~6 feet, and they're happily married (AFAIK).

@reg/ dill - the headpiece is nice, I like it. The scarf, not too much. But I do admire your wife's crochet skills! Her stitches are very fine & even. I think if she wanted to, she could make stuff & sell on sites like Etsy.

^^ Elephants lose heat through their ears, so why not Coco?

Katie, my daughter is not only taller than all of her classmates, but also a good portion of the teachers. My mum is 5'10" and I have a sister the same height. I'm touching 6' and the wife is 5'7" (she's no titchy Thai). I think the daughter will end up around 5'8" to 5'10'which is tall for Isaan. I've tried reducing her food but she just seems to keep on growing. Without checking Google I can't equate these metric heights with proper ones but I guess she's around 170cm?

And as for Reginald... it was my mum's 86th Birthday yesterday and I forgot to send her a present. Please can your wife knit a matching set of toilet roll covers, any colour will do. Ms Reg can use the same knitting pattern she used for that 'beret' thing and just post them down to Somerset. PM me the invoice.

^ she's at the age where they carry and need some puppy fat to keep up with the growth spurts. Mine was a bit chubby in her early teens and then lost it by 16/17.

@mendy - I don't know what the height of my classmate was, but I think she was 5'7" (170 cm) when we were ~13. Her final height was 5'9 or 5'10 (178 cm). Last time I saw her, she was still slim. Her mom was also tall for a Filipina (probably 5'4 or 5'5). I never saw her dad, since it was her mom who attended our school events, but the dad was probably tall too. Your daughter could be a model or beauty queen when she grows older, if she wants to. She'll probably grow to 5'10 or 6 feet, given her genes. Good luck!

I think someone's daughter (was it Pragmatic?) was involved in a TV talent show in BKK.

Anna continues to integrate well with the pack and it's a joy to see.

Here she is, right in the middle of it.

She's gradually venturing into new areas. At first it was noticeable that she wouldn't go to places in the garden where she could be cornered but she's gradually losing her inhibitions.

You can tell the Kommodant's back... that's as far as the dogs will now venture. Anna isn't yet ready to stick her head through the threshold... in fact she hasn't put a paw wrong. Her conduct has been exemplary.

That is how my dogs behave with me as seen in my dinner pic. Even with the door open they do not venture in and I did reward them with some Ribeye scraps. They know better. Dogs need boundaries or they can/ will take over a place and you can't go back. My wife is pretty good about being consistent with the dog access rules albeit she has a soft spot for Judy.

My wife does the dog bath stuff. Well originally I did it but then she saw me just hose them off and call it a day and she took it over. Mission accomplished.
I was recently criticised for not assisting in dog turd duty. If I see one now, and the tool is handy, I give them a blast with the leaf blower. This dries them out a bit and makes it easier for the missus to pick them up. Very thoughtful of me, but domestic harmony is important.

^ Yeah, a big fresh wet one is no fun. I find that even letting them dry in the sun for just an hour or so makes things more manageable.

Stumpy, seven dogs is a lot of crap... they seem to do two a day... one during the night on a patch of unused earth and a second in the morning on the 'lawn'. I may beat you on numbers but I'd wager you beat me on weight... I reckon one of your big labs turds would be worth three of Cocos.

Actually we do not over feed them Mendy. 1.5 cups in Am and 1 cup at 5 or so being they aren't doing much but lounging. No human food except on a VERY rare occasions. Good thing about kibble is they are consistent and I can scoop it up with the shovel and toss underneath the hedges and no god awful smell. It disappears super fast. A big plus too is all my dogs are females so none of that male pissing on every bush, wall and tire around the place.

Naaaaah. No reason too at this point, prefer to avoid surgeries if not necessary. That said I think my wife wants to breed our Golden Retriever for one litter. Maybe later this year. She has been in contact with an owner locally that has a male.
