Mendip didn't stitch the dog he just removed the stiches, no big deal I have unstitched several. Just snip the string and it pulls out easily. I doubt anybody would try stitching their own dog.

I take offence too, being a dane from Danmark; a country first ruled by King Dan.

^ That would be very apt if so.

For some reason I have the original name as 'Dran' in my mind because she was the only brown puppy in a litter of black and white pups.

But, I've always thought that 'namtan' is brown in Thai, and same for Lao I think. So Dran doesn't make much sense.

The crowd watch on during the solo synchronised swimming event...

Hey, hang on... that's not Covid-secure. Another Olympic scandal.

    ^ I don't know what you're insinuating HW!

But I'm very glad I don't have a Greggs next door to my gym... that would be a complete nightmare.

And this is exactly why I spend so much time with the local soi dog population.

I reckon that Yogi may be autistic... he's a bit strange and not the easiest of dogs, as Ootai will confirm.

But he absolutely adores my daughter... a mutual relationship. She gains as much as he.

    Lovely to see.

    Guess who?

Yes, this is 'Cooper' who went up to live with Gallowspole in Nong Khai on the banks of the mighty Mekong.

Living proof that the only difference between the much denigrated, so called 'mangy soi dogs' and a healthy, loyal pet dog and loving member of the family is opportunity.

Copper had a very tenuous start to life but had some luck...

And speaking of opportunity... Cooper's mum (one of Anna's nieces) is still active and on our evening feeding rounds. She's too timid to catch and get speyed so will doubtless have another litter this winter... so there will be more gorgeous puppies looking for a home in the future. This mum makes good puppies.

Since I've been away from home for the past couple of months there hasn't been much call to update this thread... and then the wife messaged me on LINE last week to say that Maya and Coco had had a fight. I don't really know why I have to be informed of every bad happening while I'm at work, but that's the way it is.

This was a shame because these too have been inseparable since Maya turned up back in March... but even good dogs need discipline and walks, neither of which they will have had since I left in August.

It was obviously a deep bite so I made sure Coco went off to the vet for some attention... and after good clean up and a shot of anti-biotics she received 5 stitches.

Then later the very same day I received a second LINE message from the wife saying, 'Tommy has been bitten on his dig'.

This was a bit intriguing... so I replied asking what ever a dig was?

Of course! I'd forgotten how the Thais often mix up the 'G' sound with the 'K' sound.

Tommy walks around with a constant hard-on and it seems that Yogi, his arch enemy, had taken an opportunity to inflict a nasty and spiteful little bite. I know there's some sensitive types out there so I've censored this pic.

I have a lot of sympathy with Tommy here... many years ago I had a girlfriend with the most wonderful set of teeth you've ever seen, and in fact they were the main thing that attracted me so. Sadly, not only were her teeth stunning to look at but they were also lethal weapons and I well remember the appalling amount of blood I lost on receiving a glancing blow from an incisor at the most inopportune time. In fact the bed looked like a slaughterhouse and I was worried that the hotel would charge me for new bedding.

But I reminisce... despite the wife being none to impressed to return to the vet for a second time in one day, that she did and Tommy was sorted out.

As I did, it looks as though Tommy will make a complete recovery...

And the same goes for Coco!

So all's well that end well... although I very much doubt any of my mutts will be travelling First Class in the near future!

Hopefully the Coco thing is just Maya asserting her place in the pack and that done its now all behind them. Love they way Mrs Mendip had to be told to take her to the vet, i imagine a conference with her, the gardener and Mini Mendip, say 1/2 hour which resulted in the line message.

Hope Dan is still going strong.

^ I think so Mike. Maya is a lot bigger and more boisterous than Coco so I think it was just a matter of time until she ousted Coco from the bottom spot in the pack. It looks like Coco has been demoted, but I'm sure she'll be once that she's accepted it.

And Dan is doing well thanks... she was 15 last month. She's getting a bit deaf and a bit stiff in the joints but she just keeps on going. None of the others will mess with her.

That's some bite that Coco has suffered; they must have been really going at it.

Did your wife see anything that triggered it or was it just pack behaviour?

Maya claimed Australian food was better than British food and then it all went off.

^ Well, it won't be Tommy, that's for sure!

No, no-one seems to know what sparked it off. Well, at least no-one's telling me anyway. A small bribe and the daughter will spill the beans once I get home.
