So they make a pleasing slapping sound when they hit the wife's head? I just ordered a couple! It's great that you can spend money these days before you even get out of bed...

So you have a window to your pool from inside the house... that's pretty cool!

Our dogs won't go anywhere near the pool, which is strange as they spend half their lives sitting in the pond to cool down. I fact, when I do swimming lessons with one of the dogs the rest disappear and hide.

You've reminded me... our new dog Coco hasn't had a swimming lesson yet. There's something to do... a day with purpose!

Can't get Jimmy to voluntarily enter the pool, and he panics for the steps when I dunk and support him; any special tricks?

There is a moobahn in Pattaya off Tepersit (spelling) road where all the houses have pools in front and a basement room with a view. At least one guy had a small pool table in the basement and would invite young ladies with bikinis around to swim while he and his mates played pool.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

Coco's first ever swimming lesson today and she didn't enjoy it.

Her maiden voyage and she set out in exactly the wrong direction...

... and tried and failed to get out, watched on by Yogi.

Slightly better second time around after I aimed her at the steps. But there's no prize for being close... still no way out.

And finally, success! It usually seems to take five or six lessons to teach the dogs where the steps are.

Why would you be playing pool in Pattaya while watching brass swim?

Get in the pool with them or get them over the pool table.

^Because it gets boring after a while so instead of having a tv in your pool room, a window into a swimming pool with girls in it mixes things up

There's been a few bars in Pattaya with giant fish tanks and naked girls frolicking in them, Freeway bar and Blue Lagoon come to mind. For those of us without the soothing sights and sounds of a fish tank at home, these places fill the void

^Ok try to imagine that tank being about 20 times bigger and instead of fish, there's naked girls diving down to get the pool table balls you've thrown in that cost 20 Baht each. This is going on while you've got a Heineken in one hand and a girl in a bowling-ball grip in the other. Disgusting

^totally disgusting, headworx! As disgusting as elephant pants.

There's this YouTube husky/ malamute that I watch (Sherpa dog) - he loves the water (river) & likes to swim. Maybe dogs like natural bodies of water and not artificial ones like pools? (I don't know nothing!)

Goid to see Coco in her/his first swimming lesson.

^^ I seem to have lived a very sheltered life!

So when is Dill's pool party?

^ Coco's a she... and a very pretty one at that. At some point this will present a whole new set of problems with Tommy and Yogi... our two intact males.

The vet thinks she's about 8 months old, so her first season could be any time now that she's getting back into condition.

Totally. In fact I'd often tell them they had exactly 120 minutes to stop that sort of disgusting behavior or I'd leave, but they never listened

Lom... it's on the list but she's not strong enough for an op yet. It's very difficult for a vet to judge the aneasthetic for a weak dog.

To be honest I may let her have her first season, which I've heard is healthier for a bitch. It would just mean a difficult few days keeping the dogs separated.

On Tuesday we had the morning dog walk as usual... Dan, Max, Tommy and Yogi.

By Tuesday evening Dan could hardly walk, was shaking and wobbly on her feet, and worse still she was off her food.

Wednesday and Thursday the same, although I could tempt her to eat the odd bit of ham or tuna, or even a few pieces of my much derided steak from last night.

Today no change, so it was off to the vet. I must admit I was fearful of this trip as memories of her brother's last trip to the vet came flooding back... his last trip was sadly a one way trip due to lymphoma. Dan is now nearly 14, or approaching 80 in dog years, so you have to be realistic.

While waiting to be seen at the vets, Dan, ever mindful of her modelling career, wanted a quick selfie!

The vet checked over Dan, then wanted to take X-rays.

As feared, Dan is suffering from intervertebral disc disease, which basically means additional bone growth of the vertebrae and not uncommon with a dog of this age.

This pic shows the additional bone growth on the lower part of the vertebrae, and the one to the immediate left (apparently vertebrae numbers L1-1 and L2-2).

This pic shows a lot of trapped gas in Dan's stomach, which will account for her being off her food. Apparently when in pain, the extra panting a dog does results in ingested air. The trapped air produces the clear areas in the upper right and lower left of her stomach.

What none of this explained was why the sudden change in Dan's health between Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening, as the intervertebral disc disease will have been ongoing for years, and won't have been particularly painful until now when it is obviously causing Dan distress. The vet thinks that Dan must have over-exerted herself, slipped, got jumped on by another dog, etc etc which has caused temporary trauma and exacerbated her condition. This is great news, as with short term painkillers and other meds to help with the gas, she should be OK in a few days.

What Dan has to learn is to slow down a bit, and maybe even relinquish her spot as pack leader. Max has been waiting in the wings for that position for a few years... he must know how Prince Charles feels.

I have no wish to prolong Dan's life needlessly if she is in pain, but it really does look like this is temporary... this time. This was a huge relief because we all love Dan to bits, not least my daughter who I had already warned that Dan may not be returning from the vets.

As an aside, earlier in this thread I mentioned that when we found Dan as a puppy, almost 14 years ago, she was half dead and not eating, having been hit by a motorbike in Korat city. Her rear left leg has always appeared slightly withered and she's always had a slight limp, although not enough to prevent her being pack leader for the past 13 years or so. Anyway, an X-ray of her rear end showed just how badly her left leg was injured by that motorbike impact. The femur of her left leg is way shorter than that of the right, and bone growth must have been stunted by the trauma. This has been disguised by additional muscle growth. How remarkable that this has effected her life so little.

There was one other positive from visiting the vets. While we were waiting for the bill, a girl walked in carrying one of those silly toy 'Dillinger type' dogs, and wearing a pair of skin-tight black leggings. She was displaying the most delightful real-life cameltoe I've ever seen and it made my morning! Of course as is typical these days she was also wearing a mask so I couldn't check out the boat race, but it looked good from the bridge of the nose up.

Oh, and Dan should extend her gratitude to Headworx. The rest of that pack of steaks is indeed featuring in this thread... I've decided to feed them to Dan to aid her convalescence! And don't worry, there will be no 'after' pics.

    Dan's Retirement

It is with great regret that I have to announce Dan's retirement from photographic modelling with immediate effect.

She pioneered the art of dressing up as TeakDoor Members in the 'Teakdoor Members as Dogs Thread', and worked tirelessly to get the perfect shot. She was always the perfectionist.

    Teakdoor members as dogs

Due to current ill health, and almost being 80, she has decided to start taking things easier and enjoy her retirement. She has many neglected hobbies, such as burying bones and eating rotten chicken shit, that she wishes to have more time to pursue.

From now on it has to be less of the 'Dillinger' lifestyle...

In favour of a more sedate 'Norton' lifestyle.

Dan would like to thank everyone for the tremendous support and many 'Greens' she received during her career. During her retirement Dan is planning to teach Coco everything she knows and it's Dan's fervent hope that one day in the future, Coco will carry on where she left off.

Coco is already showing early promise and is a ready and willing understudy. She has the 'repose' position perfected already...

And has almost mastered the 'sit' position.

But of course, she is well aware that Max will be future pack leader... one day. And by the look on his face, Max will be more than willing to exploit a pretty young model!

Bruno and Michael had a lot to do with that estate and I got called in by Bruno to have a look at those basements because they were leaking.

I didn't get an invite to such voyeuristic parties but I heard about them.

And you're an absolute gem of a bloke Mendip.

I'm in the process of re-tiling my pool at the moment and will have my four dogs in for swimming lessons soon.

^^ sorry to hear about Dan, old age comes to us all..if we are lucky. Hopefully she will be around a while longer and can make the odd cameo appearance with the rising star in a photo shoot. Speaking of Coco, she's a forward minx with Max.

Why didn't you get us a pic, you selfish fucker.

You could have feigned interest in a proper dog asked for a pic and got her snatch in the frame to boot.

Sorry to hear of Dan's retirement

^ Yeah sorry mate... I don't know what I was thinking. Maybe it was that I didn't want to get arrested at 10am at the vets... how would I explain that to the wife?

To be honest she was on to me anyway... caught me looking a few times. I reckon if I'd have got the camera out it'd have been one step too far.

^^ & ^... good points, both of you! I have no answers.

After my mauling on the Dinner thread I promised there wouldn't be an 'after' pic of Dan's Thai beef steak... but I lied!

Dan is now completely off her food and worrying us all. She shouldn't take her meds on an empty stomach, so I made up a cup of Bisto and blended her steak in the food processor. I can now welly this down her throat using a sawn off syringe!

I'm sure some will think this steak looks better than my original effort!

I asked Coco if she wanted the last of my Thai beef striploin steaks.... but she says she's just fine, thanks all the same!
