    ^ She's cool with it.

At least I assume so... I'll have to ask her sometime!

Zack will join the 'outside' pack. We've got four dogs living with us and I'm allowed no more... which is fair enough. Four is enough.

The wife accepts that if she expects me to live in the back end of nowhere, then I need my hobbies. Besides, the gardener takes care of all dog related matters when I go back offshore to work!

I like your style i.e. "I'll have to ask sometime"
Maybe it will be bought up in the divorce court?

Anyway we have 5 dogs at our place 2 of which are "blow-ins" that did not originally belong to us.
If the Missus lets anymore come and stay I'll be having a say cause if you want to look after them properly in takes an effort not only money.

But having said all of that I have found it really interesting watching the pack dynamics over the past 3 years.
Until then I had never had more than a single dog so never seen how the pack works before.

I never knew that dogs actually flea each other but often wondered how they handled the fleas that live where they can't reach for themselves.

And dogs have a character around other dogs that is sometimes different to that which they have around people.

    Interesting critters.

^ Yes, the pack dynamic is interesting to watch. The dogs avoid a serious fight at all costs and we just get the occasional problems when a new puppy grows bigger than a resident dog... the puppy then wants that position in the pack. They usually sort it all out amongst themselves with a few small scraps.

There are times when you wish the vet could have done his job properly... OK, Anna can't have puppies but it would be good if she didn't come into heat at all. There have been dogs outside barking all night.

At the start of the morning dog walk today, out the back of our house we were greeted by this...

Anna and Vigo follow us on the dog walk every single day, but with Anna on heat we had a few extra followers today.

On we continued... with eight dogs following.

Twenty minutes in, and a few had dropped away, but we'd been joined by a white Labrador type cross... never seen him before.

Ten more minutes... and still being followed.

And now on the home straight... now I know what the Pied Piper felt like!

We'd been joined by another white dog, and that's Zack way in the background. He joined us for a while but he's too old for all the fuss and competition. My plan of enticing him back home using Anna as bait is starting to look a bit flawed.

And back home. Only the die-hards remain, and well done to Vigo for trying to protect his girlfriend for the entire walk... but he's got his work cut out.

Yesterday there were so many male dogs out the back of our house that something had to be done. Anna was snapping at them and obviously distressed and Vigo was worn out trying to fight them off. The missus was out for the day... so I brought Anna and Vigo into the safety of our pond area. This worked well, although even at the end of the day, several hours later, there were still some dogs waiting for Anna out the back of our house. Thankfully most had given up and dispersed.

Before school today we popped down to the pond to see if they'd had a good night and to see how they were doing, and to give them one of NPT's bones each.

It was a mistake for my daughter to give Anna a cuddle...

On the way back to the house... Anna's pheromones must be pretty potent... and my daughter was in danger of learning the facts of life way too young!

I reckon if you could bottle these hormones you could really be onto something.

And when I got home, after the school run... all was as it should be. Puppy love!

    Lucky Vigo!

It wasn't only the daughter and I who enjoyed the weekend's lamb shanks...

There can't be many Korat street dogs who have tried lamb!

Two big Thank Yous from Anna and Vigo go out to NPT this morning!

I don't think I've ever bonded closer to a dog than with Anna... it was only two and a half years ago when she was running wild and completely feral.

    Not quite ended yet...

This story ends when I manage to get Anna and Vigo living on our property with our resident pack of four.

Problems though... our pack leader is a real matriarch and won't accept other bitches and would fight with Anna. And Vigo is top dog on his patch and would fight with our males.

Problems... but probably not insurmountable with hard work.

But the wife... that really would be a problem!

    Isn't it always!

Anyways all top work, I like to see people putting in effort to care for animals and your efforts are beyond most I'm sure.

Sadly on the other end of the scale another fuckwit was out throwing about poisoned food in my mates village and her dog fell victim. People like that are utterly fucked.

During the dog walk this morning, as usual Anna was out front leading the way, when all of a sudden she lay on her back and went all submissive, inviting my dogs to give her a sniff.

She usually keeps out of reach of my 'resident' dogs as Dan (our bitch) went for her one time.

Looks like Anna's trying to tell me something.. I reckon she wants to come and live with us!

Reminds me, came within a hairs breadth (pun intended) of hitting a dog with my car this morning.

Nowt but a bit of luck stopped it really. So glad I didn't that shit would be on my conscience forever.

Nah, she is just hardwired into wanting a good old gangbanging by all your male dogs to get pregnant

You bring her into the pack and one of those two bitches will assert dominance and most probably seriously injure the other one when one of them comes into heat.

^^ That's a big worry of mine... it's bad enough seeing dead dogs along the side of the road but thankfully I've never hit one myself. What to do if you injure a feral dog... hope I never have to find out.

^ What a way to talk about Anna!

But yes... as usual it'd be the girls to cause all the problems.

Yeah hate that, there was one that was lying on the side of the road for a while on my trip home.

Never hit a dog whilst I was driving but have been a passenger when it was done and even that's a bad enough feeling.

I've spent the last couple of days wading through 7 years of receipts, statements and God knows what else in preparation of getting my Aussie tax mess sorted out. To break the tedium I've been periodically going out in the garden, sitting a dog on my lap and picking off it's ticks (heb).

    Yep... living the dream!

The dogs have been getting a lot of ticks the last few weeks and whereas they are injected against tick diseases and regularly powdered, I still like to get rid of the little buggers.

    This was Dan's turn...

A big one on her tummy...

And between the toes is always a likely place...

    Pluck them off...

And drop them into a small glass of Hong Thong... specially used only for this purpose and kept separate from our other glasses!

I kept the glass out of focus as it really is disgusting.

Hope the wife wasn't planning on doing her eyebrows today!

The girl who lived opposite moved out yesterday. She's a real dog lover and had rescued loads off the street. We had tried to catch a couple of pregnant bitches a year ago but couldn't... and this girl took all the puppies in.

Much as I applaud her efforts, 16 (yes sixteen) dogs in a small house is an awful lot and the barking at night was a real pain. They weren't socialised either and would bite any visitors. If they ever turn on the girl she could be in real trouble.

Anyway, I helped her pack up the truck. She had to get the dogs in the cages and crates and I helped lift them into the back of the truck. No-one but the girl could actually handle the dogs or they'd bite.

She says she's found a house with more land! I wish her luck... I think she'll need it.

^ She absolutely dotes on them... they're definitely well fed and it must cost her a small fortune.

We have four and still get the occasional scrap as the young boys compete.

Bur sixteen... in a small house! She has a lot of work to do if she's gonna get her deposit back!

Was on the dog feeding round this afternoon and one of the pregnant bitches was missing. She is one of Anna's nieces but very timid and she's proved impossible to catch for neutering.

Anyway, a bit of searching found this... three pups a a few minutes old.

I left food and water and while I was walking away the mum ran back with another pup in her mouth. So, four and counting...

    Jabir? Headhunter? Anyone else?

How many can I put you down for?

The dogs in cage on the right of the back of the truck above (post 169) were from the same mother, to give an idea. Quite likely the same father as well.

I like the weekend dog walks... much more fun.

    ^^^^

The daughter checked this morning and there are six pups. Pics to follow.

Delivery no problem (within reason) and I'll pay for the spaying of any girls.
