How many times is that now that the poor thing has been attacked and raped since you "gave her a loving home and turned her life around"?

You should take Yogi the vets or give the factotum a couple of elastic bands to pull that 1500 baht back.

^ I don't believe that she's ever been raped but she has been attacked on several occasions and I do feel some guilt.

This is the first time in well over a year. At first Maya attacked her on more than one occasion because Anna wouldn't be subservient to Maya's 'matriarchal' position. They appear to live relatively happily together now although I am a bit nervous as to Maya's response when Anna occasionally has a go at Lola.

I am really surprised at Yogi having a go at Anna, Max joined in as well and they have both been punished. But what to do? Yo can't permanently separate the dogs as that makes their occasional coming together somewhat hazardous. Anna has had many opportunities to leave but she likes to stay and already appears to have made up with Yogi and Max.

On Saturday she wouldn't leave her bed, without my intervention.

Last night she almost voluntarily came fishing with us...

But only got half way before turning around and running back to her bed.

And this morning she was with the others, waiting at the back gate for a walk.

Although Anna had her walk alone because she kept bumping into things.

Maybe show them who is the boss instead of taking head high close up photos of their genitalia.

How did you punished them exactly?

Who was it who said there's no bad dogs, just bad owners?

I think that was Putin, although I don't want to get into that on this thread.

And punishment was a stern talking to, although probably wasted a few hours after the fact.

    But they knew...

It was however mentioned, as early as 1923, in the german bestseller, Mein Kampfhund.

    ^^... Gott in Himmel!

    Achtung, Spitfire!!!

That's pretty much exhausted my German, Helge.

Anyway, I had to take Anna back to the vet today for a check-up on her wounds, so took her on the way to pick up the kids from school... two birds with one stone and all that.

There's currently some festival on in Korat city which made me late, as the awful Korat traffic was even more awful than usual. I'm not very interested in these festivals these days because 1), I've pretty much lost interest in most things Thai and 2), there's never anywhere to park anyway. Oh, and 3), despite all the 'tasty food', you'll never find something as basic as a pork pie for love nor money.

Anna seemed to enjoy it, though.

Anna was obviously distressed at the vets but behaved impeccably. Inside that pink cage was the loudest mewing cat I've ever heard, so I faced Anna in the opposite direction as in the past I've watched her attempt to climb a tree to catch a cat, she absolutely hates them. But out of her comfort zone she just ignored it... the cat's owner was giving me the eye as well but under the circumstances I just decided not to act. She was a bit old for me anyway.

Although I probably wouldn't have said no!

After the vet, on the way to the school pick-up Anna crawled through to the back and left a big pool of frothy, cream-coloured vomit all across the offside of the back seat. I heard a strange noise and then smelt this awful odour wafting over, from behind and looked back and saw the awful sight. The seat cover is non-porous so the gooey mess just sat there, slopping about. I had to pull over and mop everything up with an old towel I'd brought along... that's experience! Then I took Anna out for a walk around the pavement to see if there was anything else to come out... but there wasn't. I think the vet must have given her another anti-biotic injection which had disagreed with her.

Thankfully, the daughter always sits on the nearside and her classmate (my Welsh mate's son) sits on the offside, behind my drivers seat. I gave him a pink cushion to sit on and hoped that he wouldn't notice the dampness and smell.

I reinstalled Anna to the front seat and headed on to school. She was obviously still somewhat distressed but at least not still making a mess. I think she was actually a bit embarrassed at puking all over the back seat.

That towel in the footwell was completely saturated with watery dog vomit.

With the kids picked up and seated in the the back, Anna settled down a bit and became quite relaxed. In actual fact, she was quite pleasant company. I'm used to the wife sat there.

'Speed up, slow down, indicate, why indicate? let him in, why let him in? you can go, why wait? etc etc etc'

What could be more natural than a master and his dog driving though rush-hour traffic with two kids in the back and not a word needing to be said? I could get used to this. I wouldn't attempt anything so familiar as draping my arm across the wife's shoulder while driving either, I value my fingers way too much.

Anna... no problem. She actually appeared to enjoy it.

Tonight Anna wouldn't touch her food and usually she 'wolfs' () it down. I think this was partly due to her upset stomach after the vet's injection, but also as she suspects me of hiding tablets in the food. She's smart.

Why on earth they don't make dogs' tablets taste nice I have no idea... like kids' strawberry-flavoured medicine?

Anna had the gardener's moo palo, some nice chicken bits, a couple of pieces of pork pie (from Heathrow) and all topped with sausage and onion gravy from last night, but she just wouldn't touch it. I added tinned tuna (which she loves) but she turned her snout up at everything.

Until... I tried some strong cheese...

And I didn't have to dig into my Cathedral City either!

Anna just fucking loves her cheese!

    But after this...

... all she had done was eat the cheese off the top. She didn't touch anything else... and she also just fucking loves her fish as well, usually.

Anna has to go back to the vet tomorrow for stitches, now that her wounds have been OKd as infection-free, so she can't have any food in the am before her general. I'll be taking her with the kids for the school drop-off around 06:30hrs tomorrow.

So I gave her a load of strong cheese tonight to fill her up. Poor thing. I didn't even attempt to force down any tablets.

And she had a big drink of water afterwards.

I will surely be taking a couple of old towels tomorrow... I fear the worst.

Today was the day, so after the school drop off, I collected Anna and took her to the vet to sew up her wounds.

She must have suspected something was apaw... because she jumped up on my knee at the vets while waiting for her check-in. I ad arrived at 8am to ensure an early appointment, barring emergencies of course.

And hard as it was, I left Anna in a cage to await her procedure. I have to say, WTF does an abused street dog think about when left in a cage as their master walks away? It doesn't sit easy with me and I just have to hope that she hasn't watched any documentaries out of China.

Three hours later I returned... and could hear Anna yelping and whining as she came out of the anaesthetic. She was so happy to see me, it's what makes these things all worth while.

Poor thing... a general and 20 stitches later she was a bit subdued at first...

But then she decided that she preferred the back seat, so despite my best efforts she clambered on back. These are tough dogs... I didn't even have 20 stitches for my hernia op and I can assure you that I wasn't clambering around an hour later. I love her to bits, I thinks she's just fukking brilliant. She's had a really hard life but just gets on with it.

Selfie time! Nearly rear-ended some twat braking for no reason taking this, but a nice shot I reckon!

With new, post-work haircut while waiting for Anna, the observant will immediately see. This cost me 120 Baht (only 100 Bhat out my way), but will last a few weeks so I'm not complaining. The extra cost in town compared to my suburbs is noticeable with things like this so I'll keep an eye on it in the future. It was 140 Baht with tip... and added to Anna's final vet bill made pretty much 10,000 THB all told.

But of course there will be more cost for stitch removal... but I'll do that meself, with photographic evidence of course!

Oh, and i did see that comparison between Prag and myself (Edmond). He does look good, and whereas I ain't 72 (but was 57 last week)... I had a very hard paper round and it's well known that pixels add 15 years, easy.

Got home, got out to unlock the gate, and Anna was again in the front seat. She recognised where we were, was excited and just wanted to be home, the little darling.

This brought back a memory from many years ago... as a teenager I took my basenji down to the village shopping, and while I was out of my old Talbot Solara. at the village supermarket, she had jumped up and pressed down the bulbous-ended locking (knobs?) that used to be inside car doors back in the 80s, and locked me out... the keys were in the ignition of course. I had to walk home to get the spare keys.

    How times have changed.

A rapturous welcome home of course, which Anna took fully in her stead.

I truly believe that both Anna and the pack have learnt from this sad episode.

Certain individual members of the pack now know that this behaviour just won't be tolerated, but I also think that Anna has learnt that she has to be a little easier and more friendly. There's no smoke without fire, after all.

We shall see, but tonight Anna was back in her position but not snarling at every dog who walked past.

    Maybe she has learnt?

One day after having her wounds stitched up and Anna has bounced back... she's back on her food (with strong cheese starters) and already rejoining the pack activities. My worry about her being set back socially seems to be unfounded.

I am starting to wonder if she is just very difficult for the others to live with. She does seem to act completely inappropriately at times, barking vacantly into the air while wandering around amongst the others but not actually interacting with them or being part of the pack, unprovoked snapping and snarling mindlessly and needlessly at anyone who ventures too close, general disregard and selfishness to her fellow bedfellows.

But fuck me, I know all about that.

I have just realised that I married an Anna, but minus the affectionate bits. Even Yogi gets lucky at times.

Sorry Yogi, I now know where you were coming from! (to be clear, that was a joke, you should of course never condone such violent behaviour towards females, however difficult, demanding, bossy, self-centred and antagonistic they are).

But a dog learns from past mistakes...

Here was Anna tonight, flanked by her two past aggressors: Maya to the left and the more recent Yogi, to the right.

    They all looked quite amenable...

when you took Anna to get patched up, you took her to the vets when you should have taken her to get patched up

Have you considered that maybe Anna is more than a bit wacked due to her past experiences?

^ what do you mean by 'wacked', mate?

If it's a mental thing, then yes. She was never going to be easily integrated after five plus years surviving on the street, fighting for every meal.

Maybe these occasional fracas are an expected part of it from her point of view, as she has shown that she wants to stay.

Maybe I'm ampo... amphro... anthopk... giving her human emotions when she more than expects these outcomes?

We really need a dog psychologist for this.

Not for the first time, I would really love Cesar Millan to join this forum. I mean, htf does he fill his evenings at the moment?
