In case you are looking for something to do y get out of your place for a short trip you are welcome to come and visit again if you want.
Tell your daughter that her favourite little girl here is now the proud mum of 4 pups born today or last night.

As for letting Anna stay inside, I would just let her in and keep Dan separate for a while while the others sort themselves out and then let Dan join the pack again.
Dan wouldn't need to deal with Anna as the rest of the pack would probably protect her.
You can only do so much and then they need to sort it out.
As Caesar Milan says stay calm and be a good pack leader!

^ Thanks, I'll keep that in mind Ootai, it'll be good to visit again. I told the daughter about your Christmas Joy and she's keen to see the pups... so long as we don't end up bringing one home.

Things progressed with Anna today. She wanted to go out this morning but then just sat out back on her pile of sand. I asked her if she wanted to come back in and she jumped up and ran back in the garden. She does seem to want to join us.

I carried her around the garden with the others running around to push things on and then left her in the fenced off pool area for a bit. I think it's all about getting the pack to gradually get used to having her around... and of course for Anna to get used to being surrounded by the residents. She's spent her entire life defending her patch and socialising doesn't come easy.

Dan came along to see what was going on. She has poor sight now, is half deaf and sleeps for most of the time but still seems to sense when there's something new happening. Anna's very wary of Dan after being attacked by her a few years ago when Dan was a strong pack leader.

Due to a mix-up this evening the pond gate was left open and I found all the dogs together when I went down to feed the fish. The best thing that could have happened... as you say Ootai, they sort a lot of stuff out by them selves.

Anna had a small go at Coco, which was a shame but then I guess Anna doesn't want to join the pack at the bottom. Coco will always be the bottom of any pack, that's just the way she is and will be quite happy with things. After Anna tired of being the centre of attention she retired back to her bed which seems to be her safe zone.

The pack were unsettled but generally everything was going well. Yogi acted as peacemaker between Anna and Max and stopped Max getting too boisterous. Coco was wary and kept her distance.

Dan was interested but there was no need to keep them separated. Everything was pretty calm.

After initial skirmishes, Anna and Maya seem to have sorted out their differences.

I managed to get one shot with all seven dogs in. Tommy was excited as usual... I've never known a dog like him, he walks around with a permanent hard-on.

But finally it all got to be too much for Anna and she snapped when Dan walked a little bit close. It was just a warning shot with no attempt to make anything of it and Dan was unperturbed. Anna must feel very nervous with all this going on and this snap wasn't surprising with her and Dan's history. I decided enough was enough and closed the gate to give Anna a break. She had a cold lamb and gravy snack and I'll open up the gate in the morning and let things take their course. I'll maybe take ours for individual walks in the morning, each with Anna to help build up their relationships.

I think you read too much into this behaviour. I see it all the time within our pack and when my dogs come close to other dogs.
It just the snarling dog saying to the other, "that's close enough". If you want a fight then I'm going to fight back.
I would say 99% of the time it never escalates to an actual fight. The only times it will is when 2 males are after a bitch in heat and then there are no rules.
I would have no doubt that Dan is old and wise enough to not push the issue.

I don't think it would change anything even if it was the best clothes line in the world the clothes would still be hung on the fence.
I build a very nice clothes line here and it doesn't get used they still throw the clothes over some bamboo poles or the barbed wire fence.

You should know you can't teach Thai's anything new.

Four live pups and apparently 1 dead when the Missus found them. Whether it was still born or died later we'll never know.

    ^ Sex, Ootai?

Edit: What's the gender of the pups? It hasn't got to that stage yet.

^ inside out then back to front and inside out gives him 4 days.

There's no worse smell than from rubbing your finger down the side of your balls when you've been gaming... or the wife and gardener have been away... for 4 nights...I'd imagine.

You know how you stop all that ootai.....

    Purchase proper laundry tools.

Life is easy. Wash and dry properly no matter what weather and smell is nice to boot. Plus no wrinkles, no clothes line and no crackers hanging on the fence for all your neighbors to drive by and laugh. Just offering up an option....

It has a Handwash/Gentle selection. He could fluff lightly and feel it. Toss in a dryer sheet and they would smell like new.

Well let's be honest. From previous posts I think he paid 3 bucks. Doubt they are silk anything other than the name on Lazada...

No way, she was on the naughty list this year and got nothing from santa. If she ups her game I'll consider a nice length of strong rope for her next year...

Well, if you'd have looked closely at the laundry item second from right, hanging on the gate, you'd have noticed it was my black pair of silk moisture wicking boxer briefs. You're lucky to see the black pair hanging out as they hardly need washing at all.

That reminds me, I may have to go to Bangkok next week.

Today has been a fantastic day and has made up for a pretty shitty all round Christmas. And I do in fact have my lovely wife to thank... as none of it would have been possible had she been home.

If anyone has followed Anna's story since Post #1 of this thread you'll know that our paths first crossed in 2017 and that she has always been a firm favourite of mine... since helping her with her pups and getting her vaginal tumour zapped with (very expensive) chemotherapy I have always kept her vaccinations up to date and always dreamt that one day I could give her a home. OK, so I've fed her for over four years and she has had a place to stay out back but experience has shown that something will always go wrong eventually, usually in the form of a car accident or some arsehole handing out rat-poison laced sausages. The street dog's days are numbered.

Over Christmas she's been staying in our pond area to avoid the fireworks and drunk drivers but she has become increasingly reluctant to go back outside in the daytime and when she has she just sat on a sand pile out back on her own. Vigo (her previous companion) disappeared and presumably died while I was away at work recently and Anna has been on her own.

Last night she mixed with our pack with very positive results so this morning I just opened the gate to the pond and decided to see what happened.

Anna looked in, unsure how to proceed.

She took her first tentative steps into the vegetable area and was first welcomed in the customary way by Yogi.

And then of course by Tommy.

Anna continued up the path, walked past my 'Leo' table and walked through the open gate... into the inner sanctum. I was unsure how our dogs wold react to this as this is right in the middle of their territory.

Anna continued on towards the front garden and the procession was now joined by Dan who had woken from her slumbers having sensed something was going on.

She continued on, now surrounded by most of the pack but seemingly completely unphased.

And on to the front garden.

Anna took a peak through the gap in the front gate to get her bearings. She used to come down the lane in the front with Vigo and Seaur to raid the neighbour's chickens and I guess she now saw how the land lies.

And then she headed back across what we call the 'lawn' to check out the back garden.

She arrived at the pool area and so far seemed happy with everything.

    Yep, so far so good.

Maya tried to entice Anna in for a swim but she wasn't ready for that yet. At some point she'll have to get swimming lessons to teach her where the steps are.

Coco made an appearance and seemed completely unaffected by Anna's presence which was great as Coco is easily bullied. Thankfully Anna didn't join in the continued efforts to destroy the outside sofa.

And after her adventure and circuit of the property she trotted back to her safe area by the pond for a break from the pack, but she stayed by the gate looking in.

A little later a delivery guy started tooting his motorbike horn... Anna had a delivery from Lazada.

Yes... a collar. Now it's official, Anna has a home!

Maya seems well pleased to have a new play mate. It'll take Anna a while but I'm sure she will learn to play eventually. Most street dogs never experience 'play' as all their energy gets used up in just surviving.

Later on during the heat of the afternoon, Anna was relaxed and confident enough to take a snooze in the pond sala with the others. Lovely to see.

Tommy watched over Anna as she slept but as usual it wasn't difficult to see what he was thinking about!

While Anna's been staying in the pond area she took to burying her rawhide bones, her favourite place being in the concrete ring for one of the lime trees. She can maybe get away with this when she's on her own but will have to learn you can't hide bones when you're a member of a pack. She searched for ages with no success... and it wasn't difficult to see who had beaten her to it.

At the end of a very happy day for me I fed the fish before going back to the house to make tea. Anna is interested in everything and I think she'll be a very positive addition to the pack.

While I was making tea I looked out of the kitchen door at the usual suspects hoping for a treat... and there was Anna, right in the thick of it.

We retire early in this household and shut the dogs in the gardener's side to stop them barking at the neighbours dogs out front. The dogs generally also retire early and head inside to the workshop. We usually also shut the pond area off at night to stop the dogs barking at neighbours out back but tonight I left the gate open to give Anna the option of sleeping in her bed by the pond if she needed some space. Incidentally, Max is also in this pic and he pretty much stayed out of Anna's way all day. Max is a neutured male and I think he finds it harder than the others to welcome a new female.

But no, she wasn't ready to sleep inside with the others but despite having the option she certainly didn't want to be alone by the pond. She wants to be part of the pack and to have a home.

It has been incredibly rewarding to bring Anna in from the street and today has made me immensely happy... the first time I spotted her nearly five years ago she was a timid, wild dog who had obviously been abused and wouldn't let anyone close to her.

    Good night Anna!
