^ A bit of auto-correct going on there I feel... but thanks! It has been very rewarding.

    True love... Doggy Style

There's been a lot of talk about true love lately...

Every day Anna and Vigo join us on the morning walk, and it's obvious that she has a special feeling for Yogi... a feeling which is also obviously mutual. It drives Vigo mad with jealousy.

Today there was no sign of Anna and Vigo which was very strange. Then half way round the walk Yogi started his yelping and I turned around to see he had spotted Anna running up to us, eyes half shut and tail wagging like crazy.

Yogi gave her his usual greeting... he doesn't just sniff, he munches! Tommy and Max couldn't get a look in.

Life must be so much easier as a dog.

Is that Yogi checking to see what Anna has been up to with other dogs?

Coco's collar and name tag came in the post today, so it's official... she's staying!

I was hoping for one of those "It's me or the dog" ultimatums from the wife, but it never came so we'll all be one happy family.

Coco seemed to realise this was a big occasion and she looked well chuffed with herself.

She looks as proud as Punch to be a new member of the pack!

^ I had it made in the UK and got it posted over as I've never been able to find them in Thailand.

If you send me Molly's details by email mate I'll get one sorted for her, but it'll take a while.

We got one for the cat from somewhere local.

I'll ask the wife, by 'we' I mean she did it.

First day of the daughter's summer holidays today so I'm trying to bring in a few routines to help us burn off those lockdown kilos...

First, the morning dog walk. Coco is walking well on the lead now, so the girls (Dan and Coco) for my girl.

Anna and Vigo joined us as usual.

But without help, this is my usual dog walk...

I spend more time untangling than actually walking. I've had to get colour-coded leads or it was just impossible.

    Brilliant picture!

Reminds me of when I was 13 and walking dogs at the local kennels .

We used to get paid 9pence a dog.
So you'd take as many as possible on their 1 mile 10 minute walk.
One particular time I took four littles ones and two big ones, the little ones wrapped my lower legs with tangled leads then the larger two spotted something and took off dragging me across the field with my entourage of yapping rats firmly tangled around my legs.
Must have been a funny sight.

Back when I was still alive I used to like nothing better than to spend a Saturday afternoon trawling a bunch of seedy bars on lower Sukhumvit. Who knows where that could lead.

These days my weekends are somewhat different. This morning I noticed that our dogs are being re-inhabited by ticks (heb), so I thought I'd sort it out myself rather than go through the expense of the vet.

First up, a trip to the local animal feed place to get the parasite medicine. Injection Ivomec (Ivomectin) is the preventative of choice and although it says for cattle on the bottle, it is exactly the same stuff as the vets use on dogs (in small doses).

The feed place had a batch of red egg-laying chickens for sale, so the daughter picked out a couple to add to our flock.

Everything I need for seven dogs, with a few spares. The vets make it look easy, but with my big Western fingers and thumbs there's always a lot of fumbling, dropping and swearing during these operations.

A wider diameter needle (pink plastic sheath) goes into the rubber top of the medicine and stays there. This avoids contamination from used needles or the need to stick loads of needles through the top.

You draw up the medicine into the syringe...

Take the syringe off the needle (leaving the needle in the medicine for the next dose)...

Then stick on a small diameter needle (yellow plastic sheath) which will be stuck into the dog. These are one-use only needles to avoid contamination between dogs.

I then like to flick the syringe to get the air bubbles to the top, then squirt out the excess liquid into the air... just like they do on TV.

For an average sized dog (around 20kg) 1ml (1cc) is the recommended dose.

Then all you have to do is find a couple of unsuspecting dogs to try out your injecting skills. Here's Anna and Vigo waiting for their tea... that'll teach them for arriving early!

    Vigo volunteered to go first...

This medicine is injected just under the skin, or subcutaneously, to give it the proper term.

And then Anna... what an absolutely beautiful dog, even after watching Vigo get injected she just stood and waited her turn. Never a hint of aggression from her.

After that I managed to get our two girls Dan and Coco done, but it was all too much for the three boys and they took off like bats out of hell. I gave up trying to catch them after half an hour. I'll get 'em tomorrow morning after the dog walk, the buggers. Max goes mental when he sees a needle so I always put a muzzle on him for an injection. He's never bitten to date, but why risk it happening if the possibility can be so easily avoided.

^ i'd be joining Max, Yogi et al , in fact they'd have trouble keeping up. I hate needles, its pathetic. Its not the pain its just the sight of it. I think it goes back to finding a dead junkie in London when i was young with my mates - bluey purple with a needle hanging out of his arm. Once i had to have a course of Jap Enceph, Hep A, C, E, Rabies, Typhoid and some others for a stint abroad. I cannot remember exactly how many but it was a horror show for me over 3-4 weeks.

    Where's Coco?

She's in my bladdy bed... that's where she is! It's a long story....

It's always a worry when you find a drop of blood in the garden... and once you ascertain the wife hasn't had a fatal accident it's time to start worrying... something bad may have happened. As always, the dogs are the best detectives... sight, smell and hearing a few orders of magnitude above ours.

Yogi was obviously on to something...

    As was Tommy...

And where was Coco? Hiding under the lime trees...

Yes... Coco was hiding from Yogi and Tommy yesterday because she'd just come into season!

She was half dead a couple of months ago and now she wants to reproduce. You can see why dogs are the most successful species in SE Asia..

This is a major problem... we have five dogs, two of which are hormone overloaded boys with tackle intact. We also have Dan and Max, the former our speyed female matriarch, the latter a daft as a brush boy, tackle removed.

Max is great and loves to pay with Coco...

And he's safe... no offspring happening there! But he's also very 'close' with Yogi.

Anyway, I didn't want to quarantine Coco on her own last night, so I put her and Max together. It was warm dry night, no problem... and no fertilisation.

Here's Coco, bedding down and waiting for Max to join her.

Unfortunately I'd underestimated Max and Yogi's friendship and they howled all night. Can dogs be gay? Or does having your knackers removed make you turn a bit gay? Anyway, this was no good... we've got neighbours. Not that I give a rats arse about the screeching yakking neighbours, but I don't want a piece of poisoned Isaan sausage come flying over the wall. And besides, the missus is more bearable after a good sleep.

So today I was hoping things would be a little easier...

Coco came down to the pond in the morning while I had my morning coffee. Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth...

Tommy and Yogi joined us... a bit of a stand-off developing...

But to be honest it was Tommy who made the first move...

Yogi still got a sneaky look in!

But these bladdy Thai girls... I look away for two minutes and... on our best outside sofa as well!

Tommy nearly had more action on that sofa this afternoon than I've had in five years! Had to pull him off rapido.

But somehow I don't think he was the one in control... This Coco is a little bugger! Poor Tommy...

    Yogi hasn't given up yet!

Maybe Tommy has missed his chance... Yogi has no problem being a gooseberry!

And maybe after a slow start Yogi will step in while Tommy is off to cool down!

But no... Tommy returned and Yogi didn't get a look in... I reckon Coco may have some history...

So what else could I do tonight... poor Coco in quarantine on her own... Can't put Max with her as he'll cry and howl all night through missing Yogi. Dan is too old to sleep outside in this weather or I'd leave her with Coco. But they were all so unhappy being apart...

I let them all settle down together while I had my Leo... Tommy is the shagger... Yogi likes to cuddle...

I felt safe to pop in for my tea while Dan was playing chaperone.

But bloody Max was useless... he had the hump cos Yogi was after Coco. He wouldn't leave his favourite bed tonight.

So tea finished, I came out to sort them all out. Yogi and Coco fast asleep together, seemed a shame to disturb them...

... but ya can't trust a teenager. let alone a dog teenager... so I had to split them up.

And then the barking and howling started... and then the rain started...

So what else could any normal person do?

Yep! Whack a pair of the missus's knickers on Coco and take her to bed!

The knickers, by the way, are not for erotica but purely to prevent leakage. And I've now already had some very uncomfortable questions from my nine year-old about periods... surely not a father's job to explain that one?

And for anyone more used to taking off lady's knickers than putting them on... believe me, a tail makes it a whole lot harder... it's like a third leg.

Coco has taken it all easily in her stride, and not for the first time today I wonder what her history is...

And there... in the time it's taken me to write this bollox she's gone fast to sleep!

Where's Coco? She's asleep in me bed!

I do know one thing though... the wife will go fukk'n mental in the morning!

    Coco's season... Day 2

I can't leave her outside at night because all the dogs start howling at each other either side of the gate. If she's on her own downstairs she just barks continually.

So here she is again. It's not easy... she keeps taking off her knickers and trying to get under the cover... behaviour I'd normally applaud from a girl but not from a menstruating dog. Five days I believe these seasons last.

The wife's moved into the spare room.
