I highly recommend this large bust selling tome, an invaluable aid to better writing by Dick Shunnery, I'm up to chapter C for cychotic but still know who done it !

Well that sure sounds full on disgusting Mendy. Maybe time to add Dog Diapers before Vet trips?

Does your vet make house calls? Our local Vet does for 250 bht. Works great for vaccinations and follow-ups.

^ It was absolutely, full on disgusting Stumpy. I could have done with the services of Shy Guava's vacuum truck, to be honest.

    Thank God for vinyl upholstery!

Without going into details, the smell of a dog evacuating it's bowels in close proximity, in a confined space with no ventilation, is pretty awful. But I've been there before to be honest and handled it well.

Yes, our vet does do house calls... for 200 Baht! This is an annual event for vaccine boosters and with seven dogs is a no brainer. But... even though it's just an annual event, the dogs have learnt the vet's van engine and scarper and hide as soon as they hear it. He has to park up the road, warn us he's close, and then I round up the unassuming dogs, apply muzzles where necessary, and then he drives in.

Even so, every year there's always a couple of failures and he has to leave a couple of pre-loaded syringes for me to do the jabs later, when the dogs have settled down a bit.

Man, our dogs love the vet gals. They run to the gate and we open it up and the dogs follow them. Never had to muzzle a dog. I am still however breaking Maggie( our 2 year old lab) from getting to excited and jumping up on people and wanting them to throw the ball she is trying to give them. We seldom do vet office visits.

That must have been a helluva a ride and took a lot of control from you not to puke.

^ To be honest the smell of Anna's puke kind of masked the smell of shit.

Yeah, she gets car sick as well. It wasn't a very enjoyable journey.

I always muzzle Max and Yogi for these occasions... neither have ever bitten anyone but they're not comfortable with strangers (apart from the wife's girl friends/katoi friend Cindy and Ootai, bizarrely enough) and I always think it better to remove the possibility of a problem rather than test it.

Yeah. Its probably best to be safe versus sorry. Last thing you want is to be that foreigner guy at the police station having to shell out money to the person who got bit or mauled saying you are sorry.

Dear Mendy I have a solution, you can borrow my Hilux or invest in a trailer.

Now here's a funny thing. All these chunky trucks and you rarely see a trailer. However, if you own a motosai, you just get your partner to park her bum on the handlebar of a barrow and you can drag it all over Isan.

True enough, she does have form but has been fine the last few car trips she's made.

She seems to get car sick as well, and the combination can be truly disgusting.

But every cloud and all that... when I raised the back seat to mop up the vomit, I found around 30 Baht in change!

^ You need to toughen up a bit, I've been through a lot worse raising the daughter!

Besides, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

With my daughter I just used nappies/diapers. Made the world of difference.

^ I guess you're talking about the back?

It's just too hot in the back for a live animal and if I slide open the windows the dogs will jump out. I've tested that in the garden.

An answer could be a dog crate in the back, but to be honest I quite like the company of a dog up front. It's something to talk to when stuck in the awful Korat traffic.

this is a clue, maybe there is an app for "single dogs in your area" while driving

Have you condisered the Mutt Romney roofrack approach? I find it reduces Mother-in-laws desire to travel with me.

Strong strap on, wind through the hair, I'd travel on top anyday or as others say an animal carrier can have shade , a plastic/metal tray for leaks and grills for ventilation.
They sell these in Brownie World in C RAi a pet supply shop.

The time and money and effort you make to care for your pack is obvious but as Stumpy suggests a vets visit sounds a no brainer to me.

This thread reminds me of when I had a bull terrier that had become constipated necessitating ( spelling?) A trip to the vet where I was instructed to hold his head while the vet donned a rubber gloves and thrust his arm up dukes doggie blurter, pulling the offending fecal matter out in one swift movement . My God the smell was something else. I've gotta say that's the bravest vet I've ever met.
