    Surin for a night?

Anyone kind members out there that spend 5 minutes typing a small list of places to eat (farang food), drink and maybe a game of connect 4 with a lady in a bar?

Just spending a night next week and want to dump the motor at the hotel near the bus station and travel by foot.

Done a bit of Googling, but not too much to go on.

    Cheers in advance.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

    Soi Kola.
Though, I believe it's not as rough as it used to be. Yet, adequate for your needs.

5-10 minute walk from the bus station and nearby hotels.

I stayed in the hotel next to the bus station a while back. Got some bird to come and give me a massage in the hotel room. She forgot to bring her Connect 4 game though.

For a decent farang meal, I'd pop into Nobby's (N&N's) on Soi Kola. Good German food, served by a misanthrope. He's shutting up shop soon, and retiring to Nong Khai, or so he says. So you won't go there again.

You're on Soi Kola now- the rest is up to you. Plenty of places, and if you like ramshackle just head back to the main soi, turn right and check out the reggae joint- it's a couple of hundred metres up, LHS.

    That’s called the ‘Jah Bar’
Next to Nobby’s is a new place called ‘Cheffies’ then next to that is ‘The Beach’.
A little further afield (but worth the trip) is Starbeams restaurant, that’s got an extensive
    farang & Thai menu.

Jeff had restraining orders served on him from going within 50,000km of Surin. The girls just couldn't take any more.

Is falang connection still going and that other dump star beam? I know the owner of FC snuffed it a few years ago, he could be a bad tempered old sod. Star beam was named after the owners daughter so you can see how normal fat Mike is!

^It was around that same time he pitched this forum for a kitchen gig in BKK or PTY (with a work permit LMFAO!).

It's pretty clear that he's a newbie to this country, despite his constant *claims* of having been around Thailand forever. Jeff the foreigner is totally full of shit...

Bogon, how did everything work out for last week in Surin ?

I apologize as I'd just seen the thread yesterday and I've been on the road following some footsteps of intrepid traveler Terry.

Within easy walking distance from the bus depot and Majestic Hotel, Surin's Soi Kola should have been perking up after 9:PM particularly on a weekend night.

    ^ Had a good night.

Bit late to type right now but will write something in the next day or so.

Only 1 or 2 pics as my phone was nearly dead on the way there and went straight out after dumping my bags at the hotel.

How dare you insult the Thai-Visa Head quarters. ????

I went in there one night and it was like the living dead.

Never a TVF HQ - more a Surin Farang Forum HQ.

All moot, as the placed is closed and the regulars have found other predictable Farang venues to gather.
    Pathetic.

    In years past Jeffery,

When the Thai-Visa scum would come to town for a meet up FC was the place.

You Know that as you were their most reliable pupil.

Song dedicated to broken-hearted farangs found throughout Thailand.
    "You're so concerned
    Cause I'm smiling at you.
    You inquire if I'm happy
Cause I tell you to take a nappy ['Go home'] .

    You've been fully educated
    By best western resources
But you cry to me like a baby
    When your bar-fine gik divorces.

    Oh bay-bay...Oh bay-bay..."
    [Rough translation.]

Have a bit of time, so here I go...

Got to Surin at sundown with a low battery and booked into here...

    Surin for a night?-shiteholio-jpg

Can't remember how much. Around the 1k mark with brekkie thrown in.

As the sun was down and the battery was low, I decided to tell reception to get me a tuk tuk ASAP and take me to Soi Kola.

First stop was at Nobby's place. I was expecting to get a moan and a bit of abuse off him, but surprisingly, he was very hospitable. We chatted about stuff and he was in good spirits, as was I because he was trying to shift this German stuff for 60 Baht a bottle, and I was more than happy to oblige.

    Surin for a night?-beerio-jpg

That's all the pics I have gentlemen, but if you want to paint pictures in your head, then please read on...

After a few of these beers, I ordered some bratwurst sausage, boiled potatoes and pickled red cabbage with gravy to line the stomach. Went down a treat and decided to have a couple of cherry flavoured schnapps as a dessert.

Finished up, paid the bill and turned left out of Noddy'd place to check out the scene. Walked about 50 metres down the road and didn't feel up for it, so turned around, went to the top of the soi, done a right and ended up at some Thai bar at the end of the road to try and get the blood pumping in the old fella. Had a few beers in the Thai place and once my eardrums adjusted to the Spinal Tap volume of music, I was feeling up for another venture to Soi Kola.

Paid the bill and crossed the road and passed a group of not so pretty Thai office workers celebrating a birthday in a restaurant. A few of them said the usual "hello" and "where you go?" as I passed, but I was on a mission and just smiled and started to hop foot it to where paid company was awaiting for me. Stopped a few metres down for a pre-beer before entering Soi Kola, but for some reason I thought I would retrace my steps and head back to the place with the not so hot office workers for some insane reason.

Made it to where the girls were, got a seat/drink and a few of the girls came over for a chat. Few more drinks later and realised no form of taxi transport had passed in over half an hour and wondering how I would get back to my digs without getting eaten by all the stray dogs that Surin has collected over the years. Mentioned my predicament to one of the girls and she beckoned a bloke over who said he will zoom me back on his bike in about 15 mins.

!5 mins later, the dude starts his bike, and this is where it gets interesting...The best of the bad bunch of the girls said she will take me back as he had had too much to drink. She commandeers the wave and I get on back. 180 seconds into the journey, I test the waters by edging my hands near here boobs. All is good!

Got back to the hotel, straight to the lift, up to digs and she went straight for the light out. Gave her some Bogon loving and once finished she was up, dressed and out the door. This was as added bonus as I had an early start and was wondering how to kick her out in the nicest possible way.

Up for brekkie at 7. Only soul there. Poor bird on the egg station shite herself when I walked up to get my scrambled eggs, but she melted like the butter in the pan when I mustered up all my Thai skills and ordered in the native language.

    Overall.

    Hotel 3/10
    Dinner 8/10
    German Hospitality 10/10
    Alcohol Consumed 7/10
    Not So Hot Girl 6/10

    Any questions, please ask.
