I live in a village between Sisaket and Surin, and I'm searching for a recommendation for a dentist/dental clinic. The truth is, I am a "dental chicken", and looking for a place with a good dentist and modern equipment. Thank you.

There was a recent discussion on another forum, SurinFarang.com that might be helpful. try searching:

There is a very popular and modern clinic near Big C in Surin. On the same road as Lorenzo's Swiss Restaurant.
Been open about a year or 2 - brand new building and equipment and always busy
that is the one where I go - been using it for 5-6 years
it does get busy - I normally get an appointment on the weekend as that is when another dentist comes with good english - I thnk she normally works at a govt hospital
MOdern Smile Dental clinic

If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.
Yes, Good clinic.
Just be careful, they do try and get you to allow them to work on teeth that don't particularly need working on (Pretty much standard for Dentists these days though). In my case, they wanted to extract wisdom teeth that are sitting below teeth that had already been extracted years ago. I refused and 5 years down the line, those teeth are still doing fine.
Do you recall the dental scene in Marathon Man with Sir Laurence Olivier and Dustin Hoffman.
Yes...always in the back of my mind at the dentist particularly once they start asking questions.
Thank you for your replies. Since I am not familiar with Surin I was unable to find the street where Lorenzo's was, but found a dental office that I would like to highly recommend.
When passing Big C and Makro on the left, it's a pink building about 300 meters past Makro on the same side of the street. The open at 10:00 A.M.
I waited until my wife and I had each had 2 visits before recommending, and we are very happy with them. Also, all visits were painless. Additionally, they seem to have lower prices than others I have heard of.
The office is clean and modern, the receptionists friendly, the equipment is all modern, and the lady dentist speaks english.
There is a branch in Prasat too. Brand new. It is never busy.Originally Posted by baldrick
As a general recommendation, it may be worth looking at your local government hospital. Like the OP, I'm a total coward about dentists but finally summoned up the courage to go and, because my wife is a state employee, I get free treatment at local government hospitals. You might think dental treatment in a provincial Thai hospital is going to be like something from the 1500s but actually the dentist was great and, as far as I can tell, they've been doing a good job. If you need it, the dentists speak pretty good English (my Thai is OK but technical stuff related to dentistry is not my strong point) and it's dirt cheap - an hour of cleaning was about 300 baht. The only drawback is that there is no appointment system so you need to go early and then you get assigned a time later in the day. Other than that, it's great.

It is not Modern Smile, but [B]PANYAR DENTAL CLINIC
the pink building past Makro
Dentist is Dr. Panyar 044-530923
Apparently Hoffman being the method actor that he is, in order to get ready for the torture scene, spent days 'abusing' himself in order to feel right for the scene.Originally Posted by PeeCoffee

i went there for teeth cleaning yesterday but coulnt get it done because i didnt have an appointment
nice looking modern clinic
apparently mostly catering to Cambodians (signs were in English and Cambodian, waiting patients seemed to be all from Cambodia)
i am going to get my teeth cleaned somewhere where i dont need an appointment for that
So make an appointment...you can do it on the phone...maybe availability same day.
They needed two days in advance and I wasnt sure about my plans so I ended up going to the new clinic of Mr and Ms Dr Jumpalek, near Martina Hotel, Tel. 044-515096.
I could just walk in and was quoted a price of 600 B over the phone (same price as other places).
Teeth cleaning lasted 2 or 3 minutes. I was as shocked as was my Thai friend who had been there before and was given a teeth cleaning of about 20 or 30 minutes.
Just for comparison, i called Dr Panyars clinic afterwards and yes, teeth cleaning at Dr Panyars clinic takes about 30 minutes.
I guess my teeth were already sparkling clean
Sad if even less than 15 minutes.
A routine examination by a dentist goes with any hygenic cleaning.
They can't evan apply a fluoride base after in that time.
Something simply isn't right here, sir.
Seriously loll, if you're teeth were that clean what made you believe you required a visit to a dental clinic ?
i was joking, my teeth were not that clean
i was simply cheated
next time i chose another clinic
