Lookin' for land on the 'Kong
Wondering what can go wrong
Floods, drought, malaria and worse
How loose should I loosen my purse
Mekong, Mekong, I'm coming to you
Mekong, Mekong, How much should I pay for you...
Big river, some parts a bit wild west, you might want to narrow it down a bit.
Reason, price range, with roads, electricity or straight bandit country.
Tell your wife search on internet I saw many but it's thai language...
A small fast boat
Just a fast one will do, they won't give you a permit anyway
We have searched on the Internet in Thai and in English. Still looking for the right property.
Outside of cities few Thais have internet, except Facebook on their phones.
Land is not sold through estate agents in rural areas, so you pick an area, contact the village head or other guy of importance, he looks for a cut of the sale price.
Think you are dreaming of setting up some sort of resort on the river that farangs will come to, forget it.
The system doesn't work like that and buying usable land [titles and planing permission] would cost big bucks.
i know a lot of wealthy Thais and I get build whatever I want on the land....no problem.
^ oh dear...

First, you find the land you would like to buy and then you make your offer. By "find" I do not mean looking on the Internet.Originally Posted by peter1965

^Well said! Funny post!
You should join Surinfarang.
More often than not, asking around and making associated contacts might open leads.....or the suggestion that Nicethaiza has made - look online [in Thai], as there are scores of resources regarding real estate - caveats are in order.
Best to make initial personal contact.
Peter,
Just as important as finding a good bit of land is finding out what kind of people live in that area. Local cultures and characteristics seem to vary a lot.
For me the best way (in my opinion) is look online then after go to see real place ...compare many places and decide maybe the people at the place you will go to can offer advice on other places for you...and you can look around that area too...good luck na ka
Decide the location which appeals to you most. Go there, or there abouts, and sit tight for a couple o' weeks having let locals know your intentions. I'd lay odds they'll be knocking your door day and night with offers of land. That's how it works where I live.
