"I did tell my wife to make damn sure that the boy's story is not BS."

Yup, that is step number one.

I also told her to not let the boy make a buy or get involved with this knowing that it's a bad place to be, piss off some doper or the cops. I hope the attorney helps out with some advice. She did mention that her cousin is high in the brown suits and wants the cops names and he can paperwork them out of the district, but he has to be discreet too, only the boy didn't get names and they almost have to back go there to identify these cops....will keep you posted since you have been all very informative and supportive. kind regards....

    All good so far...

Again, thanks all for your input....some quite a bit entertaining and supportive....
Papa(Grandpa), went in to the cop shop and did get a name of the bastard cop, who incidentally isn't thought of very highly by his colleagues, so that information was passed onto our family relative brown shirt who is working on relocation of him. It was true, the kid wasn't making it up.

We've decided to try and find boarding for him in Ubon where he is currently attending a more challenging school rather the rural area schools and then keep an eye on him while back home on breaks, thus he won't have to drive himself through the bad cop neighborhood on the scooter to school or cram in the overcrowded local transpo provided...up to 9 in a car some mornings. My wife doesn't drive or have a car...whew...so far anyway, but it has been brought up.

Again thanks, am trying to make this long distance relationship a go...so far so good....I found this website while searching for info on Ubon, we have been to Peppers Pizza a few times, met with John, last trip he had sold out and moved on. Looking forward to next R&R and a trip out of this garbage infested sandbox.

Well that sounds great. Good luck to you. Many "sandboxes" to play in. Choose wisely...particularly if you're paying taxes. ;-)

All's good, seems the police have backed off of their shake down.

Anyone know about the Assumption College in Ubon....120k Baht for a year's worth of education plus room/board...is that reasonable?
