Mudcrab, who got banned - did you get banned ?

I understand Moo Ban got banned about a week ago over words with another 'member'. Up to that point he was an energetic, prolific , daily poster that seems to have a long history on that Isaan forum.

Personally I found his banning 'without a due date' to be able to return is very unfortunate indeed for the health of SF.com , just IMO.

Of course my feeling is not shared by the forum's management whose rules and policy allows for unquestioned moderation.

Maybe an already banned member that Alan The Paranoid is scared of?
I've sent you a PM that hopefully explains it .....but the others ( Peecoffee and Thaimeme )are on the ball

You have to sign up and be approved. If they know you are a member here they will not accept you. I got in "under the radar".

How would anyone know if one changes his nom de plume from forum to forum.
As long as the name's don't match up - who really gives a rats arse.
Nobody is requesting a passport particularly many on a forum are overseas investigating life in Thailand.

Even the Thai Govt can access a website for investigative purposes.

Not all their members are kunts, just some of them, their Admin and the Owner

Like any forum there are some good posters...most of the banned ones from SF post on here.
I posted on their because I have some mates that do .

I got banned after their mod Ivor posted some nice photos and said what a great holiday he'd had on Khao Lak with his friends and family ....I asked if he had any photos of him getting nabbed by the BiB at the Airport .

Sounds like they had a great time

This is what he had posted on Thaivisa
Just back from staying a week in Khao Lak. Stayed in a small guest house/resort called Fasai . Similar (but worse) than the 'napkin story', upon getting the final bill it was explained that we got a cheaper price due to my Thai wife booking holiday (NOTE 1 : duel pricing) we duly paid the bill.
This was a large group booking as 7 people (inc my 2 kids) were over from U.K. for a Thai wedding the following week.
Upon getting to Phuket airport and waiting at the boarding gate, we were approached by 2 (friendly) policemen who informed us that we had underpaid our bill by 41,000b!!! ! (NOTE 2: get a fully detailed reciept). After visits to ATM& taking all my guests money, we paid bill with a view to sorting it out after we get back 'home' in Isaan. This error had the following 'knock-on' affect
    1) we all (9) missed onward flight.
    2) my guests/kids had to return to U.K. Penniless a week early.
    3) we were left with a wedding/ huge party arranged & no bride or groom. This cost me about a years salary!
    4) next day Hotel returned 33,000b & said their error.!!
Just a heads up about Fasai at Khao Lak. Lovely area BTW.

Yes, tried to login and got the message as mentioned before. No big deal to me really.....just a little disappointing that a forum in such a nowhere little place in Isaan thinks it is so important. I joined because I might, on occasion, bump into a few people , have a beer or three....you know...the usual stuff.
    But now...stuff em.

She closed the restaurant and bar. Now it is', strangely, an air conditioning shop. Baldrick will know what I'm talking about. I asked her what happened to the restaurant and she said the cook quit but was coming back in the future so it would reopen. So I guess in the future it's going to be a restaurant/air conditioning shop.

C'mon Humbert, I well recall one of your best responses towards another member when you wrote something to the effect, 'Is this forum your private Facebook ?' ...and then you were banned.

As I recall you were railing heavily against the Immigration Police doing home visits, last minute notification of visit and all that rot generally making life uneasy. On that you got it wrong though I can well understand your feelings.
I recall you actually wrote that they had a beer with you before they departed your residence. Do I recall correctly ?

Sure if you have nothing to hide one can understand the intrusions and questioning from IMM take on an onerous tone.
But there are others who have something to hide.
Many bar girls come from Isaan...and some Pattaya punters marry them simply as a scam.
They apply for a visa extension based on marriage = B 400,000 seasoned 90 days; as opposed to B 800,000 based on retirement.
When IMM goes to the village address reported on the application for extension there's no husband and wife ...except for grannie and grandpa, no men's clothes in the home's single closet and nobody has seen a farang.
The same goes for when a couple have clearly separated but the marriage ruse stays intact.

If and when the BIB go to pick up an expat on a charge---nobody living there and IMM winds up with egg on its face.

Then other expats play the "buy a visa" game and some IMM offices are slowly trying to clean up the visa corruption (key words- slowly and trying).

Sure the majority of expats who have never been questioned outside of a job interview or at a traffic stop let alone 'investigated' (slightly at that) feel that IMM is a cluster that puts us through paces over little ado about nothing.
We only wish our home countries did the same to those applying for a visa along with 90-day reporting , eh.

Again I was disappointed when you were banned , again little ado over nothing.

Just my .02...but you can take it anyway you wish.
I've never been a moderator nor am I someone that feels moderation should ever overide an intelligence voice ...unless that voice is threatening another with harm.

With SF it's not what you say but who say's it !!

What is OK for some its not for others .....like you're not allowed to give out personal information about others ( which seems like a sensible rule to me,but personal info it's something that you have posted on a Internet forum surely ) but their Admin has no problems in giving out my real name but would ban you in an instance if you were to do the same to a member . Obviously if you are promoting a business then this wouldn't matter....unless that business was in you wifes name or you don't have a work permit and only want members to call you by your forum name

Yes, I objected to the home visit. I don't think it was wrong to complain on a forum about such an intrusive practice. It was my second retirement extension at Kapcheong. Now they know us and the process is quite easy.

I remember when I first got a marriage extension in Surin ( maybe 14+ years ago ) after I applied I had to go to the local Police Station with the wife and in-laws to be interviewed to make sure I as all above board. So home checks are nothing new in the locale.
They did have a purge a few years ago where they extended this to people wanting an extension on the basis of Retirement .As PeeCoffee has pointed out this is no big deal but what pissed many off that were on a Retirement extension was it meant that had to travel all the way to the Immigration office a month after they applied to get their yearly stamp, when before it could all be done on one visit to the Immigration Office !!
Now it's all back to normal as Humbert has pointed out for those wanting a retirement extensions .
