    Must get up early tomorrow.

Just finishing my last beer before bed, wife comes out and say's, you may want to get up early tomorrow, why I ask.
Village head has been round, army is coming in the morning to search for drugs and weapons.
Stuff that, I ain't getting out of bed, doors are open, let them search.
This morning about 30 soldiers came and searched some other huts/homes, slept through it.
No drugs here, legal weapons yes, illegal weapons no, they will be out in the jungle somewhere.
Nothing to do with me, so I hope they don't yell, upset the dogs and wake me up.

Not much of a search, didn't come to our house, but FIL and BIL were out before the sun came up.
May be that was the plan, tell everyone there coming and watch who runs, whole village make their money from drugs and illegal logging.

Not hard to see, families with no real income, bit of rice land having new cars and new homes.

You forgot the sons and daughters working in restaurants in Pattaya.

That's very uncommon in this part of Issan for some reason.
Not a poor rice farming area, more a mountain, jungle people, few girls leave for the bright lights.
Very noticeable by the fact that 12 years ago I was the first farang out here and am still the only farang.
Go inland from the mountains to the flat rice lands, then the farang houses start to appear.

Wish there was some more farangs out here, been drinking alone far too long.

^I don't think I could handle that sort of self-exile for very long.

I'm in Si Sa Ket right now and I'm enjoying myself more than I thought I would. Got all the comforts of BKK without the smog, crowds, or noise.

Couldn't handle being in the sticks without some farang comforts or interaction, though.

No matter what road we choose, it always ends up the same way.

Yes, either the worms get us or we get crisped and go up a chimney. It's such a sobering thought that I am going to get pissed. Thanks for the cheerful wisdom.

Not a bad idea, pickled would be my choice too.
