    NKP Air Force vet

    Sa Wa Dee, Cup.

I was stationed at NKP 1971-1972, was the crew chief of A-1E 857, the last Skyraider.
Love to chat about NKP, the Air Force, Thailand in general, etc.

Would I recognize the town if I went back? (yes, Ho Chi Minh clock tower)

I believe that is where they train Thai air force pilots now. Welcome aboard Sarge.

Thailand made out like a bandit when the Yanks finally pulled out in '76...

Quite a number of exceptionally operational [in some cases - huge] air fields scattered throughout the country...

Not to mention, Pattaya. The only surefire winner of that war was Thailand.

The US Army corps of Engineers sure know how to build stuff, kudos.

    welcome,
I live about 3 km from the airport which is now osed by nok air and air asia to hub to bkk 2a day.
there is also a flight sckool, from th university teaching pilots on small airplanes. mostly arab and indian richies, who can afford it.

from the army camp there is only a footprint left, parkingarea, roads, loading docks a.s.o.. all baracks have been taken down.

If you look at google earth you can see some roads opposite the airport.
    good luck
