I don't think they require that, the visa is a triple which has to be extended every 90 day

OK - but still, who has 90 days of accommodation booked? They seem oblivious to the fact that people can just go elsewhere.

It is common that tourist being struck here say that they are glad about being able to stay in a country with very low risk of being infected with covid-19.
Thailand is, for the same reason, a first travel choice for those who can afford it and don't have to stay in their corona ridden home country.
1200 tourists/longstayers per month will easily be filled, especially if a second corona wave hits Europe and Australia.

    When and where was that?

When we returned to Germany, mid June, the domestic flights were middle seat vacant and the international flight was sardine style. I heard the Thais later dropped the middle seat vacant requirement (July?). What is the situation in Thailand now?

A second wave will mean the airports remain effectively closed, so the question is moot. With preconditions like paying for three month's accommodation in advance and quarantining for a fortnight then tourists will look elsewhere or stay in their home country imo.

Yeah. Or....in particular instances [residents returning, etc], protocol might be relaxed or ignored if one can claim voluntary quarantine at home/family's home [????] - or not.
Certainly might apply if one has attained 24 hr prior testing certification beforehand.

    Just a thought.

^ We, like others I know, would return if we could quarantine at our home in the same manner as we did in March. Two negative tests a week apart and prior to travel should be enough to allow domestic flight.

My wife and kids went to the Thai state gov quarantine.

It is not an army camp.....they were given 2 connecting rooms at the Ambassador hotel on Soi 11. Very comfortable and the food was good.

    Well, re-reviewed the video. This is the rigmarole;

    1) Thailand opens for the STV visa. 90 day minimum stay – 270 day maximum (2 ninety day extensions).

Want to go here's the drill:

    2) Contact TAT in your country. If TAT is not in your country contact them by website or use a travel agent (Thailand Long Stay Company). Email the travel agent and they will notify you if your country is one that is eligible for the STV. i.e. residents of Covid high risk countries are SOL, your moneys not good here. You are NOT eligible for the STV.

    If you are eligible;

    3) You need to book your 14 day quarantine at an ASQ hotel.

    4) You need to provide documentation of reservations or location where you will be staying for the three month period of the initial 90 day stay period.

    5) You need to have medical insurance of at least USD $100k and it must cover Covid.

    6) You need to have a flight booking on a Charter Flight or a Private plane.

    7) After the above steps are completed – the paperwork package goes to; a) Thai Immigration, b) then to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, c) then to CCSA Covid Center Situation Administration, d) then the Ministry of Sports and Tourism. Four bureaucracies get their chance to disqualify you.

    8) If all the bureaucrats listed above rubber stamp their approval you will receive you Certificate of Eligibility (Entry) and your STV.

    9) The COE and STV then will go to the Royal Thai Embassy in your country for you to pick them up.

    10) When you go to pick them up you must provide copies of all your reservations, invoices and proof of payments. No proof of payment no STV or COE. All financials paid in advance, on to step 11.

    11) Now you need your Fit to Fly Certificate and Covid negative test completed within the 72 hours prior to the flight.

    12) Upon arrival in Thailand you are again tested for Covid – if positive, Do Not Pass Go - immediately to the hospital.

    13) If negative you get to go to your ASQ for your fourteen day quarantine. Where, get this, you can shop on line, yes, they will deliver food to your ASQ.

    14) After your 14 day quarantine, yup, another Covid test. If this test is negative, well, your are free to go on your vacation if, and only if, you have their special mobile phone application installed so they can track your whereabouts during your stay.

and, finally 15) the video said there is a self quarantine at home period before you can fly to Thailand. But they had no details concerning this required pre-flight home isolation.

Oh, and it was noted, IF this works well, they'll open the game up to more than the initial allowance of 1,200 long stay tourists per month.

Allegedly in the the UK, one can book a virus test online, receive a test kit, have the sample delivered to the test centre and receive the result by email within 48 hours.

The trip to and through the airport may or not be dangerous.

Damn tricky to find any kind of flights. I don't think there's anything direct until November.

I can find flights from Seoul to Tokyo and Hong Kong, but even though there are rumours of flights from those places to Bkk, I've phoned lots of airlines and got nothing.

Anybody know of any flights from East Asia that are going to Bangkok? At the moment, I'm just phoning around various airlines trying to be as flexible as possible, but not much joy.
Looks like Betty is still flaouncing pretty hard on the rest of the forum.

Stay safe if you find one! I think 14-day quarantine is still needed to be safe. If you will really go, I hope you find a good quarantine place, not the military base.

I just completed the process of getting a COE and visa(married to Thai national)to return to Thailand. It is not that hard if you read what documents are necessary and make sure they are correctly completed. There are three choices of Thai consulates or the Embassy to mail the required documents for the visa, the application for the COE is done on line by filling out an 8 page application and uploading the required documents once I had the COE application properly submitted I received by email my COE as a pdf file sent to my email address,my passport was put in the mail the same day with my visa stamp.

^One has to have confirmed flights, which may be problematic.

Some embassies accept emailed supporting docs for the COE, which quickens their response. The UK Thai embassy for example.
