    G'day from a noob

    G'day all,

I am Neil, from Sydney Australia. I've been a member lurking on this site for over four years now. But I have begun to make a few posts, so must be time to introduce myself. Besides, I need to get my post count up to access the naughty section.

You'll want to know who the new 'frog hopper' champion in the games section is anyway.

I am, my God, in my early 50s now - where did that sneak up on me from? I have been married for more than 23 years to a Thai woman the same age as myself. Have lived in Sydney all that time, apart from a two-year stint working in KL and Bangkok in the first years of our marriage. We visit Thailand almost every year.

We will retire to Thailand either in five years or when my (IT) job is sent to India, whichever comes first. The closer I get to the five years the grander my Thailand house will be.

Not that we're planning anything 'grand', we're both down-to-earth people. If I can conjure a life with few mosquitoes I'll be happy. And a big pickup truck. A two-bedroom place on the outskirts of Buriram is the plan, using as many 'eco design' principles as I can get my head around / live comfortably with / convince the future Thai architect to use. Looking forward to the journey!

Ah, the moniker is in honour of my ex-border collie, Bindi. I used to use his email address to enter competitions and such, kept it when he died.

    Cheers.

Ah, the Avatar is 'Louie the Fly', used in Australian TV commercials when I was a kid. (Straight from rubbish tip to you!)

another Aussie - good sh1t - we are overweight with poms as you may have noticed

if the house is to be anywhere near the outlaws you may want slightly bigger than 2 rooms - you will need one to lock you and your fridge in

Thanks Baldrick and Bobo. Geez you're quick!

(Do you realise the Baldrick actor is the head guy on House? Could not believe that when I was told.)

Might have chosen the wrong year to announce myself as an Aussie though eh? 60-odd all out, we'll never live it down.

And well away from the outlaws, don't worry - most of them are out past Khon Kaen. Just a brother in law near Buriram, he's a copper. Really nice bloke though, loans me his D-max whenever we visit. Has done a lot for us.

You were right not to believe it as its a crock.

Baldrick was played by Tony Robinson. House is played by Hugh Laurie - who indeed had several roles in Black Adder - but not Baldrick.

Not quite. Baldrick is played by Tony Robertson whereas Hugh Laurie (House) played the part of Lieutenant the Honourable George Colthurst St. Barleigh, Prince Regent, Roundhead with Cromwell, Prince Ludwig in various Black Adder series.

    Anyway, welcome Bindog.

I think he means Hugh Laurie from the Black Adder series

    The Black Adder @ IMDB

    What's it supposed to be?

(Don't you write those long-winded amusing stories btw? I've enjoyed many in my lurking days.)

Ever see the 'special' at the Millenium Dome, Slaps - it was ok, but not 'special'.

Welcome, Bindog, and I hope you don't like rugby as it's gonna be a miserable few weeks coming up for the Convicts. On the upside, they've only got a few games and won't be hanging around long...

Thank-you all, great to be here.

I'm betting 'mericans don't last long on this board eh, don't think they could cope with the banter.

What is it, Fiji, England, Wales and someone else in our pool? The only interest there is to see if either the soap-dodgers or the sheep-shaggers can manage to edge Fiji out of second spot. Then see if we can't manage to upset unzud again in the semi finals.

Yeah, got interested in some of Wasp's building talk, couldn't help myself. But my wife owns land near Buriram now, and there's every indication she will let me live there with her. At least until I've built a house and bought a pickup truck. So I guess that makes me legit on a Thailand board.

I used to spend a bit of time on that other board, but the constant negativity got to me. And those that figured out which "side" of politics in Thailand equates to their "side" back home, then turned every thread into a political slanging match. meh. Nah, I prefer somewhere where I can find Brits and help them improve themselves, allow them to learn from members of British society Mark II.
