That Mazda looks bobbins. Ford Ranger is the only choice for me but it has to be 3.2. Not sure i can wait or want to pay the price for the new Everest. I'm guessing it will be 1.5m plus.

Saw a blue ranger on the road yesterday. Look much bigger on the road.

Yup- I can't believe the torque that 5-cylinder turbo engine produces, and there's a nice list of standard features that the 3.2 comes with that aren't available on the 2.2 (at least not at the base price):

    (Exclusive to the 3.2 version):

    12V socket on bedliner
    Electrochromatic Rear View Mirror
    Dual Zone Climate Control
    8-way Power Adjustment Driver Seat
    Cooled Console
    ESP with Traction Control System
    Rear Parking Sensors
    Rear View Camera
    Beltminder
    Alarm System
    Privacy Glass
Front Side Airbags and Side Curtain Airbags
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

If you want to add any of those features to your Ranger give me a holla, I can source them from Ford.

Does the 2.2 get Puddle Lamps ? am getting a lot of interest back in OZ for these.

Rear view camera and an umbrella holder please. Would Ford in Udon be able to fit them or would I have to drive to Bangkok?

It's essential for the school run. At the moment it sits on the rear seat cushion, but it falls off when going over a big bump. I've seen them on the Ford Ocker website.

It would make viewing easier. Isn't there a small screen that fits under the stereo that Ford do?

Actually, there are a few things I'd like to price up...

6 CD stereo with aux input

    Leather steering wheel

    Hard cover for load area

This is what you get in the 3.2 Ranger- it's shown on the rear-view mirror itself, rather than an in-dash screen (which isn't very useful, IMHO- I have one in my Pajero and I rarely use it- the rear-view sensors are very handy, though, as a tone sounds before you can run over the scooter that parked behind you after you ran into 7-11 and is impossible to see)- very cool:

That's called a 'tonneau cover'- real pick-up drivers consider them gay (though not me as I plan to get one as well if I end up with a Ranger)- you have to source one through the aftermarket as it's not an option through Ford- in Thailand Carryboy makes decent ones.

^ I saw the rear-view mirror screen after I posted. Let's see what Fondles comes up with. If the beeper option is easier, then I'll go for that - it's for the Midget when she drives rather than me.

Also the tonneau cover is a Ford option outside of Thailand, so I'm hoping Fondles can get one. I want one as I'm not a builder and we use the truck as our 'family car'.

I think the rear view camera screen on the mirror is a great idea- with the screen in the dash, it feels very unnatural to take my eyes off the mirror and look down while backing up, so I rarely do- the sensors are great, though, especially at night- the tone increases in speed as you get closer to the object behind you and gives you a really good sense of what's going on- I don't think my wife has backed into anything since we got a vehicle with it installed (and that certainly wasn't the case before).

I agree - I was just wondering if installing it would be beyond the capabilities of the local Ford 'mechanics'.

It's probably 'plug and play' if it comes through Ford- I would imagine their mechanics have seen enough of them over the last few years to manage it.

I sure it's an option through Ford Thailand on any model- the website doesn't list available options, but the dealerships will have catalogs with several packages.

I've seen a few Nissan Navaras around, but after watching this, I lost interest:

They work well enough at night- the back-up lights provide enough illumination for clear visibility (though obviously it's dimmer than in the daytime), and the electronic distance meter (the yellow and red lines in the pic above) is easy to see.

BiL got a letter from Ford HQ last week, informing him, that he is on the very top of the list of the about 500 people who put a deposit on 3.2 Wildtrack. So he will be one of the very first customers getting his. But...
by current estimates that would be in about 4 month from now, late July/ early August!

He bought a new Vigo two months ago and I asked him whether he canceled the Ranger order. He told me the order is still on and he's highly anticipating the truck, but assumes he will get quite some millage out of the Toyota before the Ranger arrives. Seems he was spot on.

Does Ford want folks to buy this feckin truck or what? I bought the Pajero because Toyota had recalled the Fortuna Sportif at the time of looking, glad i did actually as the Fortuna is bobbins off-road in standard form. Anyway, i bet a few folks have got fed-up of waiting and opted for the Mazda, which by the way is growing on me having seen a few on the road. The interior is nasty though.

I've seen the Mazda on the road and it is simply ugly. I seem to remember seeing a new Mazda 3 that also looks to have been hit with the ugly stick.
