    Speed Limit

Not that I mind but I notice a serious lack of speed limit signs. So how are you supposed to know how fast you may go? Is it like the autobahn in Germany? I have noticed my GPS in the truck tells me if I am over the speed limit and it has corresponded with signs that I did see in Ubon. But my house is near road 24 or highway 24 or whatever they call it. And it is a pretty good stretch from Det Udom to Nakhon Ratchatsma (sorry for spelling) Not one speed limit sign that I have seen. My GPS says 70 in most places and 30 when going through the Bahns.
So is there general reference? Or is that what it said in my little Thai driving book that I was supposed to study before I took my test?
Don't under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Depends.

    What are you driving/riding?

    Car / pick-up / lorry / bike / etan / buffalo ?

Generally, the posher the vehicle and the darker the windows means 120km/h plus is ok. A Bangkok plate with auspicious numbers, as well as a tacky badge on the grill,, might make it go even faster. Driving in a convoy with headlights on during the day seems to increase the limit also.

The speed limit for Bikes is 40KPH, waived. 100% Helmet enforcement, waived. Insurance, Waived. Registration, waived. License, Waived. Age, waived. Unless you have White Arms, then strictly enforced.

If you go 90 on the Open Road then you will have Cherdchai Bus on your ass and your Rear View Mirror! You can safely travel without speed restrictions in Issan at 130KPH, 90 in the Moo.

    get it on!

I have not gotten a speeding ticket yet. I did have to pay 200 baht for not having my license but that was several months ago. I have since gotten it on a trip to Bkk.
In my truck I usually go 120 130 when I can but usually there is a bike in my lane going 50 or 60. Or just another slow vehicle and several oncoming cars.
I have a small 125cc so I go down the road wide open which mean doing about 110k

The lack of speed limit signs seems deliberate in this respect, so these maggots can selectively "enforce" the supposed rule.
I also have serious doubts about their ability to gauge my speed without any apparent radar equipment, which is why I never stop for the cnuts.

The last speeding ticket I got I started telling the cop to use some of the money to put up some fucking speed limit signs so I could have an idea as to what the speed limit was instead of pocketing it and spending it on giks and whiskey.

Luckily he didn't speak English so just smiled like a stupid brown ape, I payed my fine and got on my way much to my wife at the times relief, as she knew what I was saying.

    Sorry, but he is not.
    Highways

The highways that join all the provinces throughout Thailand are usually well constructed and easy to follow.
The speed limit is signposted and is usually 90 Km/h for cars although in some areas there will be signposts indicating that the limit is increased to 100 Km/h or 120 Km/h.
