Converting a Diesel engine to LPG. Is this an expensive conversion or similar to Petrol to LPG?

Is it possible at all? Ignition in a diesel is by compression rather than by a spark as in petrol/lpg so the diesel and petrol/lpg are fundamentally different.
Do you mean to run 100% on LPG = expensive
or do you mean to run 25% on LPG and 75% diesel ?
I believe diesel lends itself to LPG conversion very well. What sort of car is it ?
How much do you save converting to LPG? And how much power would you lose on say a 2.5ltr common rail diesel?

As I understand it LPG is used as an additive to Diesel for increased power, not as a replacement.Originally Posted by palexxxx

One of my contacts tells me the process is called "fumigating" where LPG is added to the intake air stream to combust along with the diesel.
Another person said : "I can't off the top of my head remember the name of the system but long distance haulage companies fit the system to their trucks to reduce running costs.
Actually here it is here

For the average punter, unless your doing huge KM's per year, self employed , or run a courier business/ trucking business, you really have to crunch the numbers to justify the cost."

Fumigation systems are the cheapest way to convert to LPG if he wants a dual fuel system
Thanks guys for all your info as now I can get on with it.
