Seems easy enough
Pretty similar. One negative I have found already is the display light for the speedo and tach are not that bright. I will see if there is an adjustment as many other cars to brighten things up. I also have some gauges that I may or may not have mounted to give me some more detailed engine information. I hate relying on idiot lights. The car only has 56km on it and I have not taken it out for a shake down yet, but I will put that on my list. There is also a slight brake noise when applied which may be due to the newness but if it continues I will be making a trip to the dealer to check it out.

Travelmate, I think the word inexpensive might better describe the Yaris even though they are priced much higher in Thailand than elsewhere. Personally, I would also consider a Honda Accord in the "cheap" category, but at a price of 1mill baht plus, they are by no means inexpensive. They do have larger wheels and more gauges, but overall a cheap car in comparison to many others.
Upgrading, or pimping as some have called it, is my way of personalizing any vehicle I own and it is a disease that not only Americans have.
Hope you get well soon.Originally Posted by rickschoppers
Ric, it's a good car, looks nice.
You shouldn't pimp your stuff though...

I thought I would bump this thread as I am looking at getting a second car to run around the city in. the Vigo is just too much around CM. Too big, too much fuel, too hard to park...Fine for the long hauls though.
How are owners of Brio's feeling about their purchases?
I am also considering the City and Fiesta but wonder if it is worth the money...I will most likely trade the Vigo in a year or two for something similar. Like having the pickup so a city car is fine, never needed for long hauls. Also it is for my ex wife so she can take the boy to school when he is with her and I will use it when he is with me. If I need the ute I will then use that, swapping out with her. Obviously both vehicles will be in my name. I'm just not comfortable with her taking him to school in the rain on a scooter anymore and can afford the 500k.
I see a lot of March's for sale pretty cheap but that car is not an option, I checked it out and it's horrible. Haven't seen any Brio for sale.
Second hand City, Fiesta or anything at a good price would be a consideration seems you can easliy save 100k or more on the new price second hand with under 30 000k's on the clock.
Better to buy a new Brio @ 508k though?
Fahn Cahn's
Actually, the new Swift looks the business. 56 mpg @ 559k Baht for the top model.
As has already been said many times, the Fiesta is the class leader, but the Swift is quite funky.Originally Posted by Bung
The Brio & Yaris are overpriced by about 100k.
The Vios is frugal but dull.
The Jazz/City are guzzlers and common/dull.
The March is a piece of shit.
I think that covers it.
Agreed Bung about the new little Swift. It should go well enough with the 1.2 liter engine I would think. Knocks a good amount off the price of the older model as well.
If I needed a cheap car to go to Tesco/Maakro/downtown easy to park. I think I'd buy a Savvy.
Yes looking at Fiesta as well but for once in my life I am putting economy as a priority. Also there is something about the Fiesta I just don't like and for the price you only get the base model. I've always noted the Swift as quite a good car, seems this new model is also good. Seems a better deal than the Brios either way.

Anyone got any 1st hand info on on it?

It seems to be a nice little car - no good for any motorway driving really and it now comes with a more gutless powerplant; nice city car though.Originally Posted by Bung

Absolute bollocks. The City is the same size as a Focus/Mazda 3 hatchback, but with more space, especially the boot - the 1.5 engine is fine, I do 110 on the motroway at 2,500 revs, and the added size and Honda quality make a real difference; the Fiesta is great quality, but just too small for my liking; Vios is cheap and horrible.Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog
That'd be a very bad purchase, the cost of ownership is horrible when you add in the depreciation and the problems, and it's just a badly designed/built car - read up on the Malaysian threads about it...Originally Posted by VocalNeal

And in which way did you counter my opinion that they're guzzlers and dull?Originally Posted by Bettyboo
I actually really like the City, always have. It is a nice quality car, roomy and nice inside, looks good, huge boot...I think the economy is the same as any 1.5 litre car. I would consider a low milage 2nd hand one for sure. They keep their value as well.
In my experience, it's half as much (if not more) more guzzly than the Vios. That being said, the Vios is at least twice as dull as only a Toyota (or a Chevy) can be.Originally Posted by Bung

If the Vios manages 42.8 kpl, a standard vios, and you can prove so to me, a standard Thai 1.5l vios, then I will eat the hat of your choice...
