Yes and No. Of the little cars it is, but in its class (as Thais see it...)/ price range, I don't think it is which is why I bought the City over the Fiesta; much bigger (the same size as a Focus hatchback), much more room in the back and in the boot, much more room in the front too (especially width) much sturdier when motorway driving (it's heavier too), the best service in Thailand (Honda is a different class in this respect), and holds it's value much better than a Ford.Originally Posted by Jesus Jones
Yes and No. It's a very nice car, but 1.1 million for a smallish car is quite a lot in Thailand, you could get a much bigger vehicle such a Pajero for similar or less money, so the Ford hasn't sold well; at 900,000 it'd be great; next year the Focus 1.6D will come, and if priced right (under 850,000?) will sell very well and should be a really good little car.Originally Posted by Jesus Jones
Yes (especially in orange); I nearly went for the Mazda, but have decided to wait as the 2.2D Wildtrak is superior inside and outside to the Mazda, imo.Originally Posted by Jesus Jones
We will see; might be a bit too big? A new, bigger and more aggresive CRV comes at the end of the year, so that may (or may not) be an interesting option.Originally Posted by Jesus Jones
I'd agree with you that the Ford range is very good - 10 years ago in Thailand, Honda was a long way ahead of Ford, now they are not.

It'll fuck those Forskinner out of the way though. I think that'll be my next car in a few years time.Originally Posted by Bettyboo
Yes, well I dont give a fuckn monkeys coloured arse if any one is listening. Then...
Then... if you must know, this decision was very much after quite serious analysis by me and my wife who happens to know about these matters. (maybe more than me. or you. or you)
But, then... I do appreciate your opinion, bit like I said of Ford Fiesta really
That is very true. Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi can be serviced easily and at low cost... Citroen can not, even if they have great cars somewhere but not here.Originally Posted by Bettyboo

The great secret I found out looking a bit at cars of this class is, that all the popular ones now are actually quite good. I think it is a buyer's market now and you can not go wrong with any of them.
You can choose according to your (and your wife's) personal taste and preferences - like nice design and colour.
Just my humble opinion
Shame the previous model March wasn't sold in Thailand as it's better than the current one.
Saying that, they seem to go well enough. I was a number of them today tanking along at 110ish. They soon got out of the way though as they didn't want to get flattened by a Ranger.
I was not looking for it when there was previous March...
Fuel economy is important as well. Save the planet. Call me silly saying that. But if it comes to that, I can drive all over the euroshite with my big black SUV. When there is a radiological alert about. Otherwise, I find March quite good. In the end, it is down to personal taste as they are all good cars.
We can all be happy about our choices and good driving to everyone.

Well, I have had mine for a couple of weeks and very nice it is too.
Just had it's first service and I read somewhere there was new firmware for the gearbox. I asked and they said yes, they will update it. It was ok but when driving slowly it was a bit erratic. It is much better now so worth asking about. They spent quite a long while checking it with the computer plugged in and went for about a 20 minute test drive, I was getting worried/pissed of some Somchai took it home for lunch!
I really wish it had a manual override for the gearbox, like a + - on the shifter so you can select gears.
It seems to surge a little when accelerating, before and after the service. Haven't quite put my finger on that. It is most notable when accelerating briskly but only slightly detectable.
I'm coming from a Vigo and it took a while to get used to the lack of low down torque but it goes well, easily as fast as the Vigo around town without having to boot it.
It's quite small of course, the centre console rubs annoyingly on my leg, you need a special cable from ford to use an Ipod and have to connect it to the USB as well as the 3.5mm jack which seems a bit weird. I got it to work but have to unplug and re plug the 3.5mm jack every time to get it to work. The bluetooth works well and nice how it automatically connects and mutes the stero when calls come in.
It handles great but the front suspension is a bit harsh and even "clunks" over some bumps, it's like the tyres are too hard but I checked. I'm probably used to the Vigo's boat like ride.
The styling I wasn't overly keen at first on but it is really growing on me. The dash I just can't get used to but I prefer classic styling over space age.
The control stalks take some getting used to and the indicators are on the left "Euro style" so easy to get confused coming from the Vigo's right hand indicators.

I want one of these Ford Fiestas (Ken Block, amazing vid):
