    Australian Falcons in Thailand

    Hey guys.

In my travels through Thailand over the years I have seen a few Australian Falcons, and now living in the region for a few years I find myself in the position where hopefully I can track one down to buy.

For those who know what they look like, I've seen a quite a few XW's and XY's plus a few XA's. What I am after, and I know it could be a very long chance, is a Falcon GT of the XW/XY/XA/XB models. It doesn't even have to be running, I will look at anything that is sitting around, even wrecks.

Any help that anyone may be able to give would be great. As I said, I know it is a very long chance that there might be some out there, but if you don't ask you'll never know for sure.

    Thanks.
    Scott.

Dont think that there would be any falcon GTs in thailand.
Try asking ford of they exported any GTs.
    Never seen a monaro either.

Long shot but two years ago there was a Falcon parked next to the police station in North Pattaya. It looked like it had been there a while, all dusty and dirty.

seen one Fairmont here - in Sa Kaeo province earlier this year, also a 2-door Falcon coupe mid 70s.
Two weeks ago stopped to look at an HG Kingswood near Chachoensgao, no sign of owner, appeared to be under restoration, lowered with huge fat mags, primer grey body in good shape. Stopped as i thought it was a 4dr Monaro - friend in NZ has one still (1974?) he bought 1979, 4dr with the 308 engine if my memory is right.

Ford ignores Thai political crisis, focus to launch Ranger-Falcon next year
Ford Asia Pacific and Africa (APA) President Joe Hinrichs disclosed that the company is to continuously invest in the Asia region, including Thailand despite the recent political crisis recently and strong currency,
Saroj Kietfeungfoo senior vice president of the Ford Motor (Thailand) said the company is focused on importing FPV Falcon from Australia, according to the FTA between Thai-Australia after the company took distributors to join Sydney Motor Show. Ford Thailand believes the new FPV Falcon that has had both body and engine adapted, will reach the Thai market soon.

This is from an engineering mag which i copied from the business section.

Yeh, been on to Ford Australia and they exported a few GT's over to Thailand but from what I have been able to work out most of them have returned. They have said that a lot of stuff was shipped privately as Embassy/Diplomatic cars but they don't have recordsmof these. So I'm hoping that there are still a few around.

Not worth that anymore as the market price has dropped. My XA GT (stored back in Brisbane) as dropped from an insurance market value of $160 000 a few years back down to a more reasonable $60 000 now. Good for buying but not good for selling.

Yeh, I'm following the progress on these new bodies and waiting to see the first ones as to how good they are. Could be worth buying one of them and working on it.

Hi. Would be really interested in the Falcon Coupe if it's still around. If your ever that way again would love to get a few photo's of it and contact details of the owner if you could? Would much appreciate it if you don't mind. Thanks. Scott.

we live SK, back there in a week or so - if I see it again will try for some details. The coupe really stands out in a place where most vehicles are pickups, and looks even bigger with a smallish Thai at the wheel.
