Crush Washers for Wave sump bolt

As every mechanic knows (except Thai ones) you must replace crush washers every time the bolt is removed to ensure a proper seal.

I know this is a long shot, but where is the most likely stockist of these? No, Honda Thailand have no use for such arcanery.

ok, well if you cant get a crush washer try and grab some thin leather (1mm/1.5mm thick) and cut a washer from that.

^ I'll nick one of the Midget's belts and give it a go.

Alternatively, I could keep my eyes open for nylon washers. I'm sure some cars used them back in the day.

I,ve made washers from washing up liquid bottles for hydraulic systems, but that was 2000 miles from land.
Might work on yer wave, not sure about the temperature implications though.

Honda uses aluminum washers on most of their bikes. I've never had any problem getting them at the dealer, and even though it's probably not a good idea, I've re-used them 4-5 times without leaking. Honda also calls for the pan bolt to be tightened with more torque than most other manufacturers. Maybe the phrase "crush washer" is too difficult for them to understand.

cut out one - just use gasket material - same as you would for the tappet cover gasket.

Gasket material will pinch when you torque the sump plug, rendering it useless.

Depending on the size of the sump plug, you may be able to use the crush washer off an old spark plug. I've used them before and it's worked well.

Proper crush washers are usually mane out of two different metals, formed into a hollow cross-section.and need changing every time.Shiny surface to the alloy, dull surface with a laqueur on to the steel bolt.

Well, I went to get a new washer, bolt and a litre of oil today (96 Baht) and ended up buying a new bike as well.

At least I'll have a spare bolt and washer for when they fail to do it at the service.

This is the best answer...a fibre washer, which must be replaced on every occasion that the sump plug/bolt is removed.
