As an aside - when the very first ones came out I was living in Cyprus and there the long wheelbase model was called the ' Longhorn' and the short wheelbase was the 'Shorthorn' ! Seems to fit in with the Cowboy ref in the previous post :)

I have a 2.5 GT 2wd I bought about 3 months ago in Pearl white. That option was another 15,000 baht at the time, maybe not now.
First I will say I'm very happy with the car, it has a nice ride (for an SUV) and the 2.5 has plenty of power. I get a pretty consistent 10km/ltr in mixed driving.
I traded an 8 month old Honda Civic for this car, not because the Civic was a bad car, but the missus did bash in 3 out of 4 corners in those 8 months. In my opinion Thailands roads/streets are not saloon friendly, too many pot holes, high curbs, etc.
Surprisingly the Pajero has a smaller turning radius than the civic, it is easy to maneuver around and has excellent visibility.
If you buy a GT you will get a 7 inch touch screen that will play DVD's from the Alpine stereo, but if you want a GPS module that will cost extra. They will tell you that the ONLY gps that integrates with the screen is a handheld model from Alpine with a patch cable. This is not true. I had a Kamaz unit installed in BKK that is a hidden unit that works very well, it uses the Speednavi map software.
I also had a reverse camera installed that displays on the screen, a very useful option.
A similarly equipped Fortuner is about 200,000 baht more......a lot of coin for Toyota badge.

I'm getting the Sport 4wd with the 3.2 (in dark gray)- haven't chosen any accessories yet but I'll probably get pretty much everything in the catalog (I like my toys)- not sure if I'll get an in-dash gps unit as I like one I can move from vehicle to vehicle, but I appreciate the info.:)
Yes, i bought the Pajero 3.2 and i'm well chuffed with it. Plenty of room and quite efficient on the long runs. Dash is pretty basic but sporty and look better than the toyota in my opinion, although a little plasticy as with all. No complaints so far and i have already done 28k since purchasing it.Quote:

I took delivery of my Pajero a couple days ago- I would say it's pretty good value over the Fortuner (a similarly optioned Toyota would have cost nearly 100K more, and fit-and-finish-wise it's pretty much the same).
I got the Sport 3.2 Turbo Diesel 4x4.
The handling is quite different from my Ford Escape, but that's just a matter of adjustment.

Just called the dealership manager in Bangkok where I bought it (friend of the wife's father)- no issues with my vehicle as far as recalls go.
The only Pajero that's less than six years old on the list was an '09 with an engine problem- that bodes pretty well for the model, I'd say.Quote:
