    Quad Bikes ATV

What's the deal with quad bikes and why can't they be ridden on the roads. Saftey or something to do with registration?

What's the typicall price for a 110cc 150cc. I saw one or two which looked pretty good but i'd never heard of the name before. Ranged between 40-60k and 210k for a 250cc. The shop said 150cc is the best option.

I'm thinking of buying one for fun.

good if you got a farm to ride around on. Strap a shotgun to the handlebars to shoot the strays.

I've got one with an almighty 50cc engine! It cost a whopping 19K and is fun for thrashing around in the fields and mud opposite my house.

I replaced the rear monoshock with one from a Honda F600 so the little thing can actually take my wife and I plus a crate of water or whatever and some shopping from our moo baan shop home

Digital speedometer and a top speed of 56 km/h too!

^ Yes, i've noticed but isn't there a problem in registering them for normal usage?

I'm going to get one anyway and where i'll be moving to it won't be a problem riding to local shops and back.

    I have a mobility problem !

Gettin fekin old and arthritis has set in with a vengeance !

Looking at fittin a sidecar to my Airblade

Option 2 was suggested by a friendly drinking mate - ex neighbour -BIB who I have known for years - about the only straight one on the Island !

It appears that if you get a letter from a doc you can actually legally register one as an
    'Invalid vehicle'!!

Limit is 150cc - I am looking at that option .

Not that you are an invalid but he hinted (Ahem!) that for a 'consideration ' your regular doc would probably do the letter thing !

Not that I would suggest that you do it of course

They sell them here at the Suzukiyaki shop and folks ride em in town here.
We also used them at the cabin I had in Idaho, but I had a Big Red and liked it as well, but the lady needed a 4x4 ATV.
But they were fine in the mud when spring break was going on and not solid snow cover and no deep snow, we had to have sleds too for winter use as they would not do the deep snow for shit, and a normal winter was 12 feet and a heavy winter was 24 feet at the cabin.

Snow, so now problems here then! I have seem some moded ones with low profiles which look smart, but i do prefer roughing it.

    Update on the above!!

It appears to be a 'Provincial' thing.

i.e. it is up to the individual province to allow this.

If you register an ATV in Phuket it is not necessarily legal if you drive it into an adjacent province and you could get a problem with the BIB!!

I could imagine its not a good Idea to drive with them from Phuket to Petchabun. So as long as you stay on the Island you should be safe.
