    Triking

Gadzooks, the Triking lives. Regular readers might dimly remember occasional articles about my motorcycle-engined three-wheeler, purchased some four years ago.
The trials and tribulations – not to mention the bureaucracy – involved in the delivery and registration of the machine would make an article that would dwarf War And Peace, but suffice to say they have been overcome and I have finally taken delivery of the long awaited Triking, which is powered by a front-mounted Moto Guzzi V-twin engine driving the single rear wheel, in the manner of the venerable Morgan three-wheelers.

Instead of blatting down bucolic B-roads, its maiden journey was a prosaic run down the M11 and around the M25, but the Ferrari Blu Scozia machine made it without missing a beat. The beast has subsequently occupied a berth in the Telegraph's underground car park – where it sounds very, well, loud – so it can fulfil a commuting brief, too.
Colleagues wanted to know whether it is exempted from payment for encroaching the central London congestion charging zone – fearing the loss of at least an entire day on the phone mired in yet more bureaucracy, I decided to pay the £8 daily charge.
With the crisp autumn days now upon us, I'll be giving a fuller update provided I can be prised from behind the wheel.
