Thread: Honda Shadow 400

Hello all,

I'm looking at buying a 2nd hand Honda Shadow 400 American Classic.

Anyone on here know what I should be forking out for say a 2002/2003 model?

Also, does anyone have any links to Thai websites advertising motorbike sales?

What are the costs to have the bike registered if it comes without plates?

I have had a Shadow 1100 ACE for the last 6 years and given it plenty and the only problem I have ever had is the fuel pump gave up. great reliable bikes. I paid 220K and 80K for a book, The bike was a new Jap import with 4k KL/M on the clock

^ The 400 and the 1100 are nothing like the same bike. But, they're both Honda, so you can't go much wrong.

They both share the same look and many external parts, just as there are parts on my wifes steed that will fit on my shadow

Was thinking about doing the same, getting the bike imported in parts and having it assembled in Bangkok.

220K was a great price for a new 1100 model, I've been quoted 180K for a 750.

Also I've been told that it takes 3 months to get plates for the bike!!!

Any truth in that?

Mine was a 1995 ace that was imported form japan with low kl/m but looked like new with only 4000 k on the clock, I dont think they make the 1100 anymore or since 2004 I think. The shop did my book and if I remeber it cost 70K and took 2 to 3 months.
To get a good one your are better off paying that little bit extra and getting one that has been imported and you are the first owner,
most decent shops will give you 12 month warrenty on the engine and it wouldnt have been played with by the local mechanic.
Many of the shops have books and you can choose any bike you want and they will get it for you. I have shipped a full bike into Thailand before but would advise against doing that as they are cracking down more and more

What the Shadow ? Nah its a good bike for when mates come over. Bloody miss me chopper I dont think its going to be done until after xmas
