Just found an interesting clip of this car. It's made in Indonesia I guess. If you have one, what's your opinion of it for a small car?

It is actually a rebadged Daihatsu Xenia
I thought the thai ones came from Malaysia but I could be wrong.
My daughter has one.
Good value for money but a bit underpowered for the hills
Looks like the car KW has.
A roller skate with doors.
^
How many have you driven, Tex ?
I rented one for a week and it was OK
Plenty of room and small enough to park easily.
It was underpowered for hills but if you kept the engine buzzing no real problem .
Good driving, but is it a standard Avanza?Originally Posted by Rattanaburi
My sister-in-law has one here in Malaysia. Not much on the power side, but it isn't supposed to be a performance car.
Utilitarian and good build quality at a a good price.
My wife has an Avensa - I have driven it a few times, and for a small car it is OK. Plenty of room and economical in use. Not a car I would go on a road trip with, but perfect for weekly shopping trips and sending the kids to school.
Any error in tact, fact or spelling is purely due to transmissional errors...
not too bad, it is smallish, but perfectly adequate for local trips or short weekends. etc. plenty of them in Indo. Reasonable price, about $10K - to $15 brand new.Originally Posted by Rattanaburi
That was a Toyota Kijang, much bigger. Sold that one , retained it's value very nicely. ($250 less than I paid for it after 2 years! )Originally Posted by Marmite the Dog
Anyone have a link to the mpg or mpl for this vehicle?
I can't understand why the car sellers here just don't have this information. I guess people just don't car about mileage.
Now I have a question for any car experts out there. There is a bit of info on the Wikicars website about the Avanza. I understand it all but the following:
"
Avanza's 1.3 litre engine has a maximum output of 67kW(92PS) at 6,000 rpm, and the 1.5 litre engine produces 80kW(109PS) at 6,000 rpm[4].
However, there are complains from users that the suspension system of the MPV tends to 'roll' at highway speeds."
What do "kW" and "PS" mean?
I checked out an acronym site ( Abbreviations and acronyms dictionary: Find definitions for over 4,219,000 abbreviations, acronyms, and initialisms ) with no luck. Can anyone help on this?
Also I am still looking for MPG/MPL. I can't understand why this isn't important here in Thailand. Seems that drivers figure out these numbers by themselves and have nothing to base it on.
KW = Kilowatts (PS = Metric Horsepower)

Difficult to give a meaningful figure in Thailand because on top of the usual variables there is the air-con which can affect fuel consumption by up to 20%Originally Posted by Rattanaburi
Anyone got any fresh info regarding the Avanza? I had a look today.
B7,00000 for the *top of the range* model.
Could be interested.
I've got an Avanza. I love it. It just keeps going with very little maintainence. It's a practical vehicle. My wife uses it to transport stuff for her shops. Not comfortable though because it's basically just a small utility truck. They hold their resale value very well.
Honda have a new model similar to the Avanza, dont kno the name of it I'll have to look it up, I see it has a side sliding door
Got it Honda Freed
Avanza = biscuit tin on wheels.
Avanza = function over form.
I could never part with any money for a car that looks like that.
any updated opinions on the Avanza
it does look like better value than the Suzuki Ertiga and has a few more years testing under its belt
Specifications - Avanza - Toyota Motor Thailand Co.,Ltd.
669k baht for the 1.5G A/T looks like the best value with ABS and air bags
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.
We had one for a rental for a while last year when my wife's car was being repaired after her latest 'incident'- it's the automotive equivalent of driving a toaster.
I did manage to get a different rental toaster to the top of Doi Inthanon a few years back, but it was a bit of a struggle.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Check the new Nissan out. It may well be made in Indo, but so is the shitty Avanza.
NEW Nissan LIVINA - The Multi Utility Vehicle that will give you more
Like all cars, the best one is the manual, and it's also only 3k more than the dreadful Toyota.
what extras should I ask for when buying a Avanza 1.5S A/T ?
