    Be smart paying the fines

Hi guys, haven't you asked for a receipt when you get fined?

I do work as a mate on a merchant vessel. Was in South Africa once. Nothing much happening and ended up speaking with one of the surveyors.

He travelled a lot to the neighbouring countries and biig surprise.. Same problem - as soon as the coppers saw a white man the pulled him over to *fine* him. Wich he stubbornly refused to pay on the spot as long as he didn't get a receipt for it. Cops got infuriated as h*ll with him since they couldn't put his money in their pockets and ended up letting him go without a fine.

During 8 years driving in LOS, mainly in BKK, I was only 'fined' by the BiB 3 times.
Each time I deserved it. Illegal U turns, wrong lane, etc.
Sure the 'fine' was paid 'at the time' so to speak, but think of the savings in terms of fuel, not going to the police station, and paperwork dispensed with.
Great system, at least the BiB are up front corrupt, unlike our so called 'Civil Servants' in the UK.
There is nothing we can do, or should even try to do, about the Bib, as they say, 'If being screwed is inevitable, lie back and enjoy it'. Anything else is only

exactly! i ride a big bike so i get stopped by the coppers quite a bit. never in my almost 8 years have i encounter a cop here with 1% of the attitude you get from cops in n. america. mostly chit chat about the bike, where i'm from, where did i buy those sunglasses , etc..... sometimes they separate me from a bit of money, no biggie, 200b and i'm on my way.

i also get the same treatment most of the time. they just wanna know about my bike and insist on me giving them a twist of the throttle... i think they are all revheads at heart

has anyone noticed the big roads blocks over the last few days (sathu pradit. narathiwat, rama 3), they are out in force...for what reason?
