Understand what you say - but I like the idea!
I only potter around the South of Phuket with the occasional trip to Phuket town.
Parking ? Ok same as a car .
Rain - ok - go tomorrow
Rains whilst you are out? Dive into the nearest bar and wait till it stops !
My choice was oriented to an objective daily allround usage. It's a nude bike offering a comfortable driving position and more than acceptable performances, brakes, etc, engine derived from the well known CBR 600.
Of course the supesports machines that other posters suggested are much more attractive but on a daily usage they will not give you back the money you invested in.
I had a CBR 900RR. XZR1100 for 2 years each and it was a lot of fun driving at high speed on decent roads (not thai roads) but forget the comfort you can find with a VFR 750 for example. Too much pressure on the wrists riding supersports bikes, not speaking about pains in the back.
I've made many trips from Lausanne(CH) to Bandol's Catellet speedway(FR) through the "route Napeleon", mainly on "nationales"roads through many passes and my choice is definitely for tourism bikes opposite to sports one.
So the kind of motorcycle I wish I owned is the one who will bring me from Chiangmai to Phuket secure with the maximal comfort.
I forget Harleys as I'm not old enough, I need efficient brakes and don't have any time to polish all the chromes.
Right Happyman, That's just what can be called "high jewellery".
I've got a thing for ugly utilitarian machines.
This one will go over 600 km on a tank of fuel.

In red white and blue!
I used to have one of these Mr Earl, probably one of the best adventure touring motorcycles built.
^nice.
Mine's been in the shop for 3 months now. I'm wishing to get her back soon.
Have to agree with Tsicar, a Egli Vincent has to be one of the most beautiful and elegant bikes out there. Also love a Norvin (Vincent engine in a Norton featherbed frame).
I've seen them race and they are far from shabby.
Anyone on a fast connection to post a pic?
Oh, and I would love a 2008 KTM 450 EXC but will wait for the fuel injected models probably '09 or '10

In reality, I like stripped down, basic bikes like this.
Due to the fact that you are mostly full of shit, I didn't find to much true in your post.Originally Posted by Wallalai
With a bad leg you can use the trike to still get out in the wind and go with the guys to the runs.
The engine and brakes on the trike were good, only thing was an S&S carb which I changed to a SU and then that was the bad thing gone.
After getting the trike and with my leg layed up I did manage to maintain my 60+ thousand mile a year average on a bike tho.
And after I got my leg back to normal I still rode the trike if I wanted to, Just the same as I could drive my car or pickup or ride my bagger if I was of a mind to.
Everyone has difgferent ideas on what they want to do and what type of bikes they want to ride and I prefer not to ride a jap if I don't have to.
My first bike was a 1938 Indian Scout that I bought in 1948.
A minimum of 160+miles per day, everyday, of the year??Originally Posted by blackgang
