An expensive but very dependable touring bike is an older 81 Honda Gold Wing with a factory faring (Vetter Faring is ok but not stock and hard to get parts for). I came to TH to explore around and learn Thai. But now I have to learn to speak and write British English.
My bike was nicked as I parked it over night.
American translation: Someone scratched my tank (or fenders).
British Translation: Someone stole my motorcycle.
Cool weather has arrived, which means one thing for me: motocross racing.
This just arrived last week, ordered direct from Yipboon, never meddled with by any local "mechanic", heaven.
Nice 2 stroker!
How much?
Like the chain & Padlock.
^ 85,000. Its a 2001 with very little use, I would say its done about 40 hours tracktime, quite a find really.
Just ordered some new graphics as the ones it came with fell off in the back of the pick up on the way back from collecting it.
That is a very reasonable price!
How did you managed to find such a good bike?

not mine, but my neighbour here in Phuket owns two; before retiring here he restored Bridgestones and Sunbeam S7s in UK, selling mainly to US buyers. Sold his collection except for two Bridgestone Hurricane 175s.
Admit I had to look on the net - my limited knowledge of British bikes.
Better pics to come as soon as we sort a card reader for his camera memory card, meantime here's one from the net.
more info at : Bridgestone Classic Motorcycles
The Mutant got some new wheels
Had a bit of a delay with the new risers and seat shocks but getting there, Changed to a 18" front and a 200 rear.
Handle bars are going to be custom made V type bars.
Still undecieded on paint, some said dark purple would look good with the blacked out engine. I am not a big fan of purple but I guess it could look nice with a very dark metalic purple or that paint that changes color when you look at it from different angles.
Anyone know what that color is called and how much it costs
Are you thinking of the Harlequin paints that change colour when you walk around them
I have seen them on jappa's and they don't seem to suit bikes IMHO

A nice fresh yellow would look great.Originally Posted by Rigger

candy or pearl, no idea of cost though!Originally Posted by Rigger
Didn't see the posts above, in the UK it's called candy and i think there is already a thread on here about it.
Pearl white would look nice!!Originally Posted by Rigger
Chrome would look good.
I have been thinking to have my midlife crisis about now.
I had thoughts of chopping our honda wave and growing a pony tail.
Then saw Riggers build above....
Managed to bugger up my bike coming back from Bang Saen Bike Week. Which was awesome by the way!
Anyhooter, hurtling down Bangna Trad highway at night. Managed to hit a massive pothole which bent both rims! Front & rear.
As always I have full insurance coverage. Thus they can pay for my new wheels. (hopefully).
Still some good did come out of this. I now have a Speed Triple on loan until my bike is roadworthy again!
Very good service coming from Triumph. Hip Hip Hooray!
I did some of the work on the first build but skills and time not really upto it and now have Richo HD in Chang mai building it.Originally Posted by Nawty
No its just for my self.
I think it cost me around 600k to 650k baht the first time including hot engine parts and shipping engine and frame into Thailand, so will have around 850k to 900k at a guess when the bike is done and plated, But the whole bike will be rebuilt to new standard
Might go with dark candy red or dark candy blue as they already have it in stockOriginally Posted by Travelmate
To hot I think for ThailandOriginally Posted by Nawty
Atleast you stayed on, should go for some light rims ?Originally Posted by Travelmate
You can do it alot cheaper than me by using a steed engine and a localy made frame. I recon you could build a really nice steed custom chopper for 200 to 250KOriginally Posted by Nawty
^ Which bike is yours?
To be fair, a 2001 that has been inside Thailand for a few years will go for about 45-50k....you'd be getting a pile of scrap for your money though. Maybe I paid over the odds, happy with what I got though.Originally Posted by Travelmate
I saw this one on a feed on mocyc.com, a guy in Chantaburi orders them from yards in Japan, he puts the photos up on the the website, asks for deposits, and then orders the bike. It was risky buying a bike like this from photo but I just had a feeling it had had a very easy life and that was confirmed yesterday at the track, it runs sweeeeeeeeeetly
Had my old CR 250 1996 up against a 2007 CR 250 at our new village track and mine pisses all over it in a straight line, I had a go on the 2007 and liked it heaps smoother and lighter easy to ride fast and less tiring.
Havent been riding for a while and after about 20 laps I went home as my arms were foked, got to get out on it more offen
Would be good with a bit of chrome showing. A bit like the Royal Enfield tanks.Originally Posted by Rigger
