    New Motorcyc Day...

...after pissing around for a while in the shop, I just said to the wife: "which one do you want?" She said: "That one". (I also thought it was the nicest looking scooter thingy in the shop. Thus, I got out the cash and put the bike in her name for ease. All done within 30 minutes (I didn't want to draw out the process).

We got two of these fashion statements for free:

... I'll scoot down to the motorbike helmet shop later and pick up an EU standard vespa style helmet. I'll get the wife one too if she likes, but I think she likes this one and thinks its good enough (I've told her otherwise, but she wouldn't listen).

BTW, a funny incident in the shop: the salespeople were telling me in the shop that these helmets are standard and safe. I could see the two mechanics through the glass working on the bike getting it ready (nice guys as it turns out), I called them in through the maintenance door and asked them if they had bikes, yes they did. I asked them if they'd show me their helmets, they brought in their proper high quality units. I asked the salespeople why the mechanics aren't wearing the ones she gave me, and they all started laughing. Point made.

2025 Honda city 110i: 50,500 Thai baht which includes 1 year 1st class insurance, 100% theft insurance for 1 year, and the usual cheap first year of services. )h, and the two helmets.

I drove it home, nearly killed meself two or three times (haven't ridden one of these for years), and driving off the forecourt doing a U-turn quickly in a semi-major road before a pickup got to me had the staff laughing; no doubt wondering of the foreigner would survive the week.

Actually, I like it a lot, and it's certainly not short of poke - so thanks to the several posters who suggested it..

    ^ Cheers Art.

I took a ride around and upgraded the helmet - 590baht, much stronger and fits better.

Filled it with petrol, took it for a ride around, getting comfy and nice already. Superb little machine for little journeys around town...

^ She did, and insisted. But, being a erm *****, once we got to the show room, she wanted something she liked the look of (such as the colour and the wheels and the dash layout) plus she especially wanted and electric starter (not a kick start). She said the clutchless 4 gears were fine, she didn't need a fully automatic bike.

&, that's what you get on a daily basis. Random insanity, I call it.

its built for speed, if you'd steered her towards a Grand Filano a whole world of storage and comfort would have opened for you both

I was out on it again this morning, Mike - love it! She has taken it out on her first ride now; I hope it goes ok and she likes it...

The 110i isn't like my old NSR125 (Those were the days with unrestricted 33bhp and 100mph down hill ), but it has what you need for around town. Frankly, around these roads full of total nutters in taxis, other bikes, songtaows, and drivers like me wife, I'm just taking it easy, using my mirrors plenty and enjoying the ride around 30kph most of the time. It still has less than 10kms on the clock, and feels a tad tight. Once the 1000kms/1 month service is done then I'll take it on a little run and open it up to see what's available.

I really loved me old unrestricted Italian import - they don't make them like this anymore:

I had to sell it after 6 months, I was only young, and it bought out the maniac in me; I was getting closer to a big incident/death everyday (I rode it like these bloody Thai teenage race gangs although I never swapped a gf...).

The wife just came back from her first trip (sirrirat market area) - loves it; says it's the best bike she's ever had. And, apparently, several people asked her where she got it and how much. One even offered to buy it...

She bought back mountains of food - I wondered how it fitted in the basket, and apparently it didn't - she held many bags because she only needs one hand to drive... (facepalm)...

    The chicken is bloody good:

Nice new toy at a good price Betty. I was surprised at your good lady settling for an auto-clutch manual. I used to always rock a Honda PCX when I was on safari in the kingdom. Great bikes. Don't know if they are still in production.

I could pull that off on a PCX when I wanted to take a photo (proper compact camera with wrist-strap and physical shutter button - not a mobile phone) but I thought a manual would be trickier; kudos to Mrs BB

^ I've done 3 or 4 posts, just words, but they never come up...

VN - I love that bike!!! If my nsr 33bhp 125 beats most 300cc bikes today then yours, especially on a winding road would be bloody brilliant, imho. Does she get 130mph? A tad more?

Anyways, me and the wife love the purchase. It's a fair bit bigger than other 110is that I see around - maybe there's a tad more tech like the wheels and starter? I didn't exactly open her up today (only 35kms on the clock), and I wanna take care until after the first service, but she's already loosening up so 40, 50 60 just comfy in 4th gear is very easy. The ocassional pull in 2nd or 3rd shows a bit of potential. She's not slow. I'm no longer the slowest around... Got bored of the songtaows and kids out at lunchtime today (3 on each bike), so had her in the outside lane get past all the riffraff. Bloody brilliant, and I've hardly touched the potential.

Anybody got a phone holder (all weather?) on their moped/scooter? I'd like Google maps to take me further afield.
