    Insurance info

Hi all, I looking for a bit of advise on auto insurance.

My wife is looking for insurance for a second hand VW van we bought. Is it customary for it to cover repairs not related to an accident? Such as a engine problem or similar.

She got a quote from a place for just over 30k baht for one year which seems a bit high supposedly it covers wear items as well.

I'm not really interested in anything other than the standard insurance to cover an accident .

Anyway any insurance suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

No I dont think so. I personally have never heard of a policy that covers any mechanical repairs. It is from damage or theft only. I would offer one more company. Bangkok Insurance. I have been with them over 25 years. Good discounts for good driving, and the three times my car has been hit there has been an English speaking claims adjustor at the accident scene very quickly. Never a problem one.

Engine and mechanical insurance on a VW van?
    Never heard of that before.
Thrash the engine and clutch, get a new one.
    30k well spent.
All sounds a bit fishy to me.
AO 's insurance company sounds perfect.

    Thanks for the replies.

Upon further investigation you are correct it would cover accidents theft flood and fire.

I suppose the quote is for type 1 that would appear to cover almost any situation.

    thanks

Wife’s Honda Jazz costs 10k a year for full insurance. We have been using the same insurance agent for 8 years now and I would happily send his details on. No harm getting a quote. He’s a Scottish chap on Samui so easy to deal with.

If I left it to my wife she would get the most expensive one because that must clearly be the best.

she'd be right according to mine. i goggled and found the policy i thought was the best mix of cost and cover and it turns out this got overruled in favour of one costing nearly 4k more.

Yes It can be tricky as my wife has to do all the leg work then let me know what she found. As I'm still just over a month from heading over.

I am pretty confident in her but was initially a bit surprised at the cost. Possibly due to the cost of the van and it was a type 1 policy that is full cover.

    Thanks for all the input.

I know it's a bit late to reply, but I've been very happy with Roojai Insurance.
    Everything was done online.
Wife got quotes of around 18000 baht for 1st class on our truck. I went online and filled out Roojai's quotation form and it came back at 8000 baht for the same cover.

Sorry for late reply. There is no excess on the policy. Costs nothing to submit a claim.

Thanks Norts, that’s a 5k excess better than my current policy and it’s up for renewal next month.

I shall endeavor to request a quotation and report back.
