Not a car or car company (and may never ever be able to go full electric), but it has 4 wheels

I was recently contacted by a local Polaris dealer (in the states) to see if I was still interested.

I wrote him back and requested the delivery price to be included. He wrote back questioning a delivery date in December 2021 or January 2022. Told him January 2022.

Pros about this type of side by side.

We already have 2 but both burn gas and have an exhaust system which will get hot and can create fires. This EV should not.

Better than (in most but not all conditions) the Toyota 4 Runner I use now to get around while on the property

Quiet and the guys can use it to sneak up on prey.

Girlfriend wants one so she can call it hers when she’s in the states

I have to say i'm finding it hard to like the EVs without radiator grills, so used to seeing them, they seem to have lost some their personality. Like everything eventually it'll become a distant memory.

I'm quite lucky where I live, the Bentley Showroom is just down the road, as is the Porsche, in the other direction is the Alfa Romeo which is next to the Ferrari Showroom.

Not boasting, but it's just that we get some really interesting drives cruising by.

Did you know... that ELECTRIC CARS predated internal combustion cars ?

A Brief History of the Electric Car, 1830 to Present

Electric cars have been around a lot longer than today’s Tesla Motors or even the General Motors EV1 of the late 1990s. In fact, electric cars appeared long before the internal-combustion sort, and dreamers have never stopped trying to make them work both on the road and as a business proposition.

Start in the 1830s, with Scotland’s Robert Anderson, whose motorized carriage was built sometime between 1832 and ’39. Batteries (galvanic cells) were not yet rechargeable, so it was more parlor trick (“Look! No horse nor ox, yet it moves!”) than a transportation device. Another Scot, Robert Davidson of Aberdeen, built a prototype electric locomotive in 1837. A bigger, better version, demonstrated in 1841, could go 1.5 miles at 4 mph towing six tons. Then it needed new batteries. This impressive performance so alarmed railway workers (who saw it as a threat to their jobs tending steam engines) that they destroyed Davidson’s devil machine, which he’d named Galvani

Less than 20% of electricity in the US, for example, is generated from burning coal.

You don't see any pedestrians, cyclists, children raised near busy roads etc. travelling to coal burning electricity generators to suck in the smoke either.

    Things to come

Why electric pickup trucks are so hot

Ford's stock jumped 12% Tuesday after it revealed plans to boost production of the electric F-150 pickup, and today rival General Motors will unveil the electric version of the Chevy Silverado pickup.

Ford's stock jumped 12% Tuesday after it revealed plans to boost production of the electric F-150 pickup, and today rival General Motors will unveil the electric version of the Chevy Silverado pickup.

Why it matters: Pickups' early prominence in the wider EV plans of U.S. auto giants (GM also has an electric Hummer and plans an electric Sierra) signals how the industry sees an opening in the truck market.

    • Pickups are wildly popular in the U.S., now claiming nearly a fifth of total light-duty sales, and are a key money-maker for the industry.
    • Startups and other established automakers are also getting into the electric pickup market.
    • Rivian began production of its R1T last year and Tesla's delayed Cybertruck arrives at some point, while Toyota and other legacy automakers also plan models.

What we're watching: The specifics arriving later today when GM unveils the Silverado in a virtual rollout at the CES tech show.

    • The company has said the vehicle will have around 400 miles of range and begin production next year, but other details remain under wraps.

What they're saying: "Investors are expecting strong consumer reception to the Silverado launch based on client conversations," Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. analyst Matt Portillo said in a note.

    • "We think an exciting launch of the Silverado, especially if it catches significant media attention, could help the stock; similar to some of the tailwinds we saw for Ford last year as the order book grew for the Lightning and the Mach-E demand figures expanded to 200k units per year," he writes.

2023 Volkswagen ID Buzz - Electric Kombi
    10 March 2022

Volkswagen has brought the Kombi back to life with the reveal of the ID Buzz, a new all-electric model that’s available as a people mover or a van, with the latter dubbed Cargo.

The ID Buzz has been a long time coming, having been teased in concept form all the way back in January 2017, and thankfully for fans, not a lot has been in the transition to series production.

That means the ID Buzz channels the iconic Kombi of yesteryear with its distinctive exterior design, which is also heavily linked to other members of Volkswagen’s emerging ID family, including the ID.3 small hatchback and ID.4 mid-size SUV.

Riding on Volkswagen’s proliferating MEB platform, the ID Buzz uses a 150kW rear-mounted electric motor and an 82kWh lithium-ion battery (77kWh usable). Charging-wise, 11kW AC charging with a Type 2 plug is supported alongside 170kW DC fast charging with a Type 2 CCS port The latter can increase battery capacity for five to 80 per cent in about 30 minutes. Bi-directional charging (V2L) is also on hand.

    .
    Inspiration?

GM is betting on its electric Equinox, starting at $30,000, to kick-start ‘massive adoption’ of EVs

    Key Points
    • The all-electric Chevrolet Equinox EV is scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. next fall, starting at around $30,000.
    • GM expects the new electric crossover to become a high-volume seller for the Detroit automaker, as it transitions to exclusively offer electric cars and trucks by 2035.
    • The Equinox EV is expected to join electric versions of the Silverado pickup, Blazer SUV, and the less expensive and smaller Bolt EV and EUV models for Chevrolet

Could be a game changer considering the entry price is roughly the same as an ICE powered similar vehicle.

Nice looking machine (must have been designed in Europe )
