I wasn't specifically referring to servicing, Peter, more to repairs. I even had Toyota mechanics working on my car once for 2 hours and then give me it back to me with no charge because they had not fitted any parts. That last one was a one off but as per my earlier post, I've often (but not every time) just paid for the parts and got labour free.Quote:

Being the auto expert you think you are did you know that the Toyota Tacoma(USA) has gone back to using the old cartrigde type of engine oil filter and you have to remove a underbody panel to get to it, only reason they would do this is to make it a lot more dificult for people to service their own vehicle, there is a U tube video about it
Last time i owned a vehicle with a cartridge oil filter was in 1983 a nissan patrol and it was as messy as hell to change it, every vehicle i have owned since has had a easy to change spin on and of oil filter

Toyota is upgrading their models all the time, engines, transmissions, electronics ETC and the vigo and revo models are completely didderent in a lot of ways

Well My Revo 2016 G 4x4 has no nipples to grease & this is my second Revo the first did not have any nipples.
So do I go down to Toyota to ask them to help, you out by removing your nipples so you could be a normal person like every body with no nipples.

Much to the bemusement of helpful staff, i make a bee line for said truck, and get underneath.
Lo & behold, 3 grease NIPPLES on 3 UJ's.
So this thread seems to confirm that according to PC the Wally, no Vigo's or Revo's had grease NIPPLES prior to 2017, and thereafter they have.
Here endeth today's informative lesson.
And i had my first check on my 150k kms UJ's since this topic started, this morning, i, underneath my own truck giving everything a good wiggle.
No play. No slop.
Sealed bearing UJ's holding up just fine after ZERO maintenance in 150,000 kms.

The Toyota handbook and Toyota service guides recommends greasing is required every time the prop shafts are under water. Road flooding, mild river crossings, up to door seals ..... or in JPPR2's case, messing around under water with his bikini clad partner.
On a side note there is an electrically/Vacuum? operated front axle diff lock on the front axle, when 4WD is selected via the manual transfer box, (2WD HI, 4WD HI, neutral and 4WD LO lever, which had to be replaced. It wasn't engaging as the internal mechanisms were rusted up.
After OhOh post I had a second look under my 2016 4 X 4 & there is 1 grease nipple in posision 2 on the front propshaft no nipple on the rear propshaft. That no grease nipples on the universal joints:chitown:Quote:

Yes same here up to the sills, I'm always wary of floating away as when the river is above that level, there is a lot more pressure I presume.
I suppose the valve assembly/cam cover should be called the cam cover to be more precise, as many engines don't have valve rockers any more.
In my engine rebuild days, many years ago, my cars tended to have valves operated by a rocker driven by the rods running down to the camshaft, inside the engine.

As the truck has, Toyota defined, "overhead cams" pressing down on "Valve lifters", even though in reality they push the "intake and exhaust valves" down, with "inner and outer compression springs" doing the lifting, covered by a "Cylinder Head Cover Assembly", it does seem a little pedantic.
