    Peter,
The information I read awhile back states all 2.8l engines do.

"All models with the brand's 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine - the HiLux, Fortuner, Prado and now the new-generation HiAce have a DPF."

I asked the question because when reading the 4x4 community forum of SA a poster said they are not fitted on SA toyotas
I have been driving mine up to Phang gna province at least once a month so i have no problem with The DPF
No need to if it does not have a DPF, half my monthly mileage comes from doing it

There is some Oz guy who does a bunch of YouTube vids about it but the guy is kind of a tool and I can't watch them much

They list a procedure to clean it out if you do not drive your truck a lot or let it idle for extended periods of time. But if you get out on the hwy and sustain over 2k rpm the theory is the computer dumps more fuel then ignites it and reduces the particles so they will not "Pollute" the air....

I have been following the topic on U tube and in Aust they are now installing a burn switch (what ever that is) to fix the DPF problem
On the open road the hilux only revs at approx 1500 rpm doing 100KL per hour, probably have to drive at 120 to130 KPH to sustain over 2K RPM
I know some idiots drive at that speed on Phuket and Phang gna roads but i do not, i do not have a death wish mate

South African Toyota's don't so maybe Thai ones don't, Australia has very strict exhaust omission standards for such a huge country with a small population
I remember back in about 1993 that they stopped importing Mazda/Ford 2 to 4 tonne trucks because they did not meet Australian omission standards, plenty of other countries still imported and sold them at that time

Not familiar with the vehicle but couldn't you maintain 2000RPM at a lower speed if you drop down one gear?

Why not to ask at the nearest Toyota service?

You will need to enlighten me, i know blue smoke is caused by excessive oil in the cylinder and black smoke is caused by to much diesel fuel
The only thing that makes white smoke that i know of is water/ steam

I asked one of the service advisers when i was last at Toyota, he did not seem to know, walked away to ask someone else and did not return to inform me

With a auto transmission you would have to drive in sports/manual mode and select a lower gear and use extra fuel which could add to the problem, its a 6 speed transmission and you would have to select gear 4 or more probably 5

Peter, I guess the next time at the shop when the trucks up on the hoist you could just look at the exhaust system. The DPF is probably just past the firewall. I tried to look on mine but I have after market Rival Skid plates so not to easy to look up around them.

I routinely do 120km's on the various motorways and Hwy 1 up north. RPM's are right at 2k+

It seems they do not fit a DPF in Thailand at present so it cannot give you any problems post 12, which makes me very happy
The closes highway to Phuket that you can drive at 120KPH safety on is 44 which runs from near Krabi to the Samui ferry terminal at Suratthani takes 90minutes to drive there
