Probably the best car on the market in that range and hold their value well.
Yep, true. Got a great price when we dobbed the old model in. Deal breaker for buying the new Pajero was the great after-sales and service from Mitsubishi here.

Apologies if missed, but why not buy from closer to Lampang (or even CM) for future servicing and the like?

Actually my wife went back and forth with them and got a ton of "Extras". The only thing wasn't a full tank of gas.

Better deals and more perks buying in BKK. We took their offer and tried in Lampang, They said they can't match it. We got a bunch of Car show discounts being we bought it during the big car show.

No prob. They gave us a ton of show perks locking one in that day plus knocked off 100k baht for show Promo. After my wife negotiated more later. I tried like hell to get them to throw in the Aero body kit I wanted but they wouldn't. They did knock 35% off the price which I took and they will install it after it arrives.

And I don't get the sharing 2 vehicles thing. You'll be getting in it all the time with the seat up to the bleedin steering wheel and some nauseous fucking rose ambi pur stink in there with Thai love songs blasting out as you fire it up
All of that every time, plus wing mirrors repositioned and closed, driver visor down with courtesy mirror open, slippers in the passenger foot well and new stuff living on the back seat.

    Pros
quite good looking from the front.

    Cons
absolutely hideous from the rear. Hit every branch of the Ugly Tree on the way down.
Ditto the rear quarters from the side.

    IMHO....

While looks are always in the eye of individual, I wouldn't call anything on the Pajero "Hideous". That said, I think the back is rather bland but is significantly improved with an aero kit. The side view is not bad. Body lines are clean. Overall if it was lowered a few inches it would look really nice. I am not fond of any SUV with huge tire to body gap. But then, that's me.

Another road trip update. We drove back from Lampang to BKK today. It was an easy effortless and relaxing drive. I will say when my wife drove she wanted to try all the feature bell and whistles. Lord, that stuff would drive me nuts. It chimes, rings and controls your distance, front avoidance was silly. You set cruise control and then you get within a few car lengths of another car and it starts to brake. At a stop light when those flower, peanut, doughnut sellers walk up a bells starts ringing as they get to close.

What scares me about all this technology is people will become dependent on it and make bad drivers even worse like the tools in the Tesla.

Should be an interesting planet in a few years when cars fly...

Well while I enjoy the driving experience for what it is, I don't find myself searching out shop windows to admire the reflection. The Pajero Sport is just not a looker. The front and rear are both overdone and gaudy - in my opinion. I'm not convinced a body kit brings anything aesthetic to the occasion - unless it is the full Burkha. ...... These things are subjective though, I personally dislike the wheel arch/tyre gap on a performance car, but appreciate the functionality of suspension travel and clearance on a vehicle with off-road pretences. [Hence a lift kit on my Vigo]. A slammed SUV just looks wrong. Or East LA.

I agree, slamming one would look ghetto. But a few inches would make a cleaner ride height and stance. IMHO the SUV is not an Off road vehicle. Like you I have my Hilux lifted but its for specific reasons primary being tire clearance for larger tires.

Actually the Pajero was her choice. She researched and test drove a Fortuner and CRV. The Chevy was out as too many bad complaints about service. The MU7 she did not care for.

I would enjoy a Swift to trash around in though..

Yup, turned all the stuff off in my Camry also it becomes a major distraction and pain in the arse after a certain point.

When I first got it the collision detection / avoidance system rather ironically almost caused me to crash it. Fecking thing kicked in and left me dead-stopped in the inside lane of a highway.

^ It picks up the motorcy going slow on the track inside the white line as well. Have to turn it off for that reason.

It is an off-roader though and pretty okay with it, but won't pull a plough in the paddy...

Wife's choice, I don't care about looks as long as it does the job.

Yeah. All that stuff is a serious distraction. My wife agreed. They are all turned off. The only true value add for my wife is the parking assist alarms when you are about to clip something when backing up.
