As a long-time GoPro user, I was excited to purchase the advertised waterproof GoPro Hero5 in December. Between sporadic and quick dips in bodies of water, I was happy with the product. It wasn't until I spent about 30 minutes snorkeling that I noticed water getting into the front LCD screen of my camera. An error message soon showed on the back screen as I swam to shore. The seal on the battery was tightly closed and when I opened it, the now-exposed part of the battery and seal were dry. But when I pulled the battery out, the inner area, near the front screen, was wet. Clearly, water had seeped in though the front screen. Simply bummed, I figured I would apologize to the people I had been photographing and get a replacement under warranty, as it was quite obviously a manufacturer defect. My claim was rejected with cold indifference, no explanation and a clear lack of compassion. I was offered a 20% coupon in exchange for my defective product, which is a lesser deal than the current public advertisement for $100 off in exchange for any GoPro (as of 5/25/17). If you do further research you will find heaps of reviews (one GoPro forum with 13 pages of the same complaints) with the exact same problem.[at]

The hero 7 Silver for $ 299 is advertised as :

"Dunk it. Crash it. It can take it.

Built to handle whatever you throw at it– and waterproof to 33ft (10m)."

    ^^a lack of compassion?

    What a nob.

I'd have jumped on it and sent it back.

Yeah, I contacted the GoPro help line and was offered the 20% discount on any new purchase.

I packed it up and sent it by UPS to Singapore.

Only after spending PHP 1,800 to send it to them I found out to get the 20% discount, I had to ring a number in Cambodia to claim the discount, and then they charge USD80 to UPS the new camera to you.

The 20% discount just so happens to be USD80...

I'd probably have to pay import duty on it as well.

I just went to my local camera shop and bought a new Hero7 off the shelf.

I have had some time to play with some different mounting locations for my Hero 7. I have ordered a set of sliders for my RVF but then thought about using the rear footpeg.

I configured it using the Handle bar mount from GoPro which allows a 360deg setting. To the camera is the GoPro Swivel ball holder which gives you infinite angles. I hope to try a trial run in the next few days but right now its just to damn hot.
